What a sad day. Hawaiian will be discontinuing their flights to Manila Aug 01.
That really, really, really sucks! I have all my miles with Hawaiian and use them exclusively for international and domestic travel to he cities they fly to. I think PAL will probably offer the same fare or not too far off. Aaargh!
What a sad day. Hawaiian will be discontinuing their flights to Manila Aug 01.
Damn, its due to the high fuel prices and low fares.
Damn, its due to the high fuel prices and low fares.
Yeah, it can't be due to ridership. Every single flight to and from Manila that I fly (multiple times a year) it is packed to the gills. Perhaps if they just raised the fares?

AC to BKK?
I have all my miles with Hawaiian and use them exclusively for international and domestic travel to the cities they fly to.
Me too, want to fly Hawaiian before they close the route. Anyone fly from AC to BKK? Thought I'd spend a day in AC, fly to BKK for about a week then return through AC for a couple of days before returning. Appreciate any flight / airline advice, and a pic to say thanks in advance.
I was going to suggest Cebu Pacific that goes to BKK from Clark airport in AC but, on their website, it shows not available when you choose Clark to BKK. So, I not sure what's up with that. That photo, looks like a room in Pacific Breeze hotel.

Thanks, looked on their website and did not get the return flight too. Might have to fly out of Manilla; never tried it, always go to AC. Any advice for a couple days in Manilla?
PB is my favorite hotel, always choose a room in the Oahu building. No walk of shame and made friends with security. They give me good tips on local spots.

Hp
Damn, it would be so convenient to fly from Clark to BKK but, I think they may have stopped doing that because Clark airport is small yet and they're trying to make it bigger. So, you may have to go from Manila to BKK and take a taxi in AC to Manila airport. That will be a pretty long taxi drive. Taking the bus would be longer. If you're staying in Manila, stay in the cleaner areas like Makati City near SM and Glorietta Mall. I heard from other ISG members that Malate area is a decent safe area to stay at to. Mall of Asia is not that far away. It's near the Manila Bay. There's also EDSA Complex very close to Mall Of Asia which is like Manilas version of Nana Plaza in BKK. P Burgos is 10 min drive up north from Makati City. P Burgus in Makati is like Walking Street in Pattaya. Note that the prices is alot more than AC because it's in the city. But, I think the city girls are hotter though. Oh, close to Manila Airport is a KTV place called Air Force Once. You can pick among economy / business class girls to choose from. It's very close to the airport like 5 min away. It's a good way to get a quickie and kill time if you have a long wait on the next flight. You'll see this piece of an airplane on the building from the outside.
If you haven't stayed in Manila City area, be cautious and ignore the taxi drivers hanging around hollering at you if you need a ride. They are pretty aggressive and you are at a high chance of catching a taxi driver who won't turn on the meter. Plus, they'll try to discourage you from going to P Burgos, EDSA saying it's expensive blah, blah, blah. So irritating hehe.
Oh, I forgot to mention, if you are going to fly via Cebu Pacific from Manila to BKK, you'll need to go to Terminal 3

Ok, guess its going to be Manilla. Will read ISG for a hotel recommendation, ideally want something like PB. Pick-up from airport, GF and good security.
Thanks for the intel and difference from AC.

Hp
In Makati City area, the cost of the hotels will be more expensive than PB in AC. I know you don't want to spend more than PB rates but, if you go cheaper, some hotels may not have in room safe. Some of the cheaper 3 star hotels don't have in room safes. Check the rates on Agoda. Com and Hotels. Com and compare the prices. Some hotels are cheaper on Agoda than Hotels. Com. Vice versa. Check the hotels room to see if it offers an in room safe.
Oh, I forgot to mention this other thing about Cebu Pacific Air, there's the Airport terminal fee you need to pay plus, in regards to luggage / carry on, watch your luggage and carry on weight. Their Max weight they allow is not much. I think its 30lbs for the carry on and 50lb Max for luggage. If you know your luggage will exceed that weight capacity, your better off paying the extra fee for excess luggage weight online when you book your flight. If you exceed the weight at check in, it can add up. The more you exceed the weight, the more you pay.

Manila
Manila is eeeeasy! I've gone about 5? 6 times in the last 2 years so I think I could offer some help LOL. If you're going to stay in Manila, you can just grab a taxi as you're leaving the airport. The airport security will give you a receipt with the info of the taxi driver incase he does try to rip you off. Simple right?
I recommend St. Giles Hotel. The rooms are a bit small but it isn't too expensive and it's in a great location. With Burgos St about 30 feet away and a bunch of fast food places near by, you can't go wrong! EDSA complex and Greenbelt Shopping Center aren't that far away either. Mall of Asia and Manila Bay Cafe are about 20 minutes away depending on traffic? The downside of this hotel is, during rush hour, it's impossible to get a taxi! It's kinda like this all over Manila and Makati. So when leaving to go to the airport, leave even earlier than you planned!
Also, don't spend all your money before you leave the country! You never know what you might need it for. I recommend you hold on to $100 worth of Pesos just incase! Oh and learn to bargain! Never ever ever over pay for a mediocre girl!

I, the carry on is 15 lbs. (not much weight at all) and the check in is 20K (44 lbs.) If you pay a higher fare, your weight for carry on limits go up.

Yeah, catching a cab to/from the airport is painless. I find you usually pay more coming from the airport as they are metered and regulated. Going to the airport, you can always find a cabbie willing to bargain down.
As far as when to go to the airport, for returning home from Manila, I always get there a "minimum" of three hours before the flight. It is PACKED at that airport and the lines just to get your boarding pass are loooooooong. And security is even longer at times. If you get there two hours in advance, chances are you'll miss your flight.
And the terminal fee always catches people off guard.
