If you were able to call customer service it's not a burner
No disrespect intended here. But if you have a phone where you can call customer service to replace anything about it (phone number or otherwise) that likely means you're paying for it with credit card which, therefore, means it is trackable to you in the end. Unless, of course, you paid cash and gave a fake name, address, etc and actually remembered all details after having lost it.
I dunno. Am I incorrect here? It's also why burner apps do not appear secure to me either.
To me a burner is best bought prepaid wearing clothes, a ball cap & glasses you don't normally wear at a Walmart paying cash.
Open to being corrected here.
I usually park my car in a garage. And the emergency roadside bag where I keep my burner was missing with the phone inside. I about shit a brick thinking my SO had borrowed the bag and was about to find the burner.
Long story short I left the car unlocked and opportunistic kids stole it and a pair of sunglasses. I have never been so happy to be robbed. I bought a replacement phone and called customer service, using the PIN they were able to assign my old number to the new phone. Good luck!

Burner Phone. How much is enough?
I agree dressing in disguise and what not is probably overboard but who knows what other jams you could unwittingly become a part of based on someone being able to trace your phone from a girls call log. E. G. She ODs or is involved in some other crime and they get your number and come calling on you. So, having a separate phone for mongering is one level of security from SOs and the like but still not very secure.
Pre-paid with cash is probably the best option for the average all-around risk.
While you are technically correct, I think you are looking for a level of security beyond the needs of most.
I think most guys need something where they don't have to use their real phone number, and don't want to worry about texts and calls appearing on their phone.
The steps you are laying out are more in line for drug dealers or leaking secrets to the press. I think dressing up in a disguise and driving across town is overkill for acquiring a phone to call girls. Are you worried about your SO checking the security footage at Walgreens? If you are worried about LEO, I have serious doubts they would jump through all the legal hoops necessary to track down the owner of a phone number that called a working girl's phone.
If you're doing real dirt, then sure protect yourself, but if all you need your phone for is scheduling with girls and your bills are private, then I really see no need for all the cloak and dagger action.
Updated and out-of-date ads
I want to RAVE about the girls that update their recurring ads when their situation changes. For example, I see Cristen Cremes posted that she is out sick for a while:
http://usaadultclassifieds.info/classifieds/-35/posts/1-Independent-Escorts/1-Independent-Escorts/34009-OUT-OF-COMMISSION-please-see-below.html
On the flip side, I want to RANT about the more numerous girls who put an ad out there that repeats daily for 30 days, and leave it up even when they are not available. I understand if uncle LEO picked them up unexpectedly, but if they're traveling out of town, under the weather for a while, or whatever it would seem to be to their own advantage to either update the ad with their availability if they want to maintain a presence, or simply take it down until they are available again. That way they don't get annoyed by texts and calls coming in, and mongers don't post reviews about getting crickets because they know the deal.
While I am ranting, I really hate the recurring ads that say "today only!" for weeks, or say "this weekend" without any date, so you're not sure if it was really last weekend and just hasn't been updated.
Did you actually read what the man said in his post?
How many pay phones do you see these days? How is someone going to call you back on a pay phone? (I often have the experience that the provider doesn't answer the phone, but, in a good case, she calls back in a few minutes.).
Reading comprehension, has long been an issue with some folks here.
