The MP is pretty safe. You usually don't have to worry about getting hit over the head or some pimp bothering you. Also, if a first time experience there are far less chances of a LEO setup. For me is about ease and flexibility. Escorts are notoriously flakey which makes planning painful. They don't reply for hours / days, cancel at the last minute, change numbers so you can't get in touch when you want them, might move to an incall that's far as fuck, and generally are on that bullshit. If my afternoon / evening opens up and I want to have some fun, finding an escort is a crap shoot.
MPs are always at the same place and have consistent hours which makes planned and last minute appointments much easier. The only issue is that you might not know who you are going to get and what they offer but using the forums you can get info.
