I texted her back once more with an LOL and asked if that ever works.

Some of these girls come up with such creative BS it amusing, but also insulting that they think a guy will fall for any of it. As a rule: Always give in person. Never Venmo, paypal, or whatever it may be unless you don't ever want to see that money again. Always give in person. Insist on it.
