Just because I don't post much doesn't make me a newbie Vino! I've been a member of this forum for quite a while and am not based here in the US.
Even so, why propose something as silly as 'threatening' to give me the Sheriff's number?
If I was LE the first thing I'd be doing is posting a shed load to get rid of the newbie tag. Or is that too obvious a thing to be doing?!

There's something you said that I find interesting. You claim to have been a member of this forum for a long time. But yet, you're not from this country. What? Say again. Either you're a liar, or you've been sucking us for information without contributing anything for a long time.

What made me become a liar? What have I lied about?
I've been a member since 2007, and live abroad, occasionally visiting the US. Prior to this exchange, I've had 3 posts. I don't need to live in the US to be a member, and don't become a liar if I don't post!
I find this forum a great source of info and help, especially with regards with staying safe and enjoying the benefit of the advice from local guys who actively post here.
This forums about exchanging and sharing views as well as info. I'm not here to start a slanging match, but it would have been suffice to have just said,. "not enough posts from you, sorry no-can-do! "
BTW, if I wanted to, I could have posted several meaningless posts by just commenting on what others have contributed, or even posted useless crap on the forum to get my posting quota into 3 figures

Update: A legitimate question is raised about why we make these posts. The reason is simple - not everyone is as experienced and wise as Vino and may get baited into giving out information either publicly or in a PM. Doing so furthers no one's objective except LE and/or guys who offer nothing to other members but expect them to provide information.

I don't understand why you would feel the need to tell someone that you are not going to give them information. I'm pretty sure that would be evident by them not receiving information.
There is no reason to foster and feed animosity. If someone posts something you don't like or you think someone isn't on the level you can simply choose not to acknowledge them.
It accomplishes the same thing and comes of much less shitty.

The purpose of saying no publicly is to alert the rest of us that this person may not be what he wants us to think he is. Therefore none of us will slip up and pass the digits. We attempt to keep our treasures safe. If he hadn't responed someone might have. As far as shitty goes, it is difficult to reject someone. You need to point out the reasons you will not provide information.

I think Vino came out strong in the 1st round. Bombastic tried to defend himself in the 2nd round. Vino softened his jab in the 3rd round but staggered Bombastic with a straight right. Bombastic tried to "rope a dope" in the 4th round but it didn't work because he's no ALI.
The bottom line is that if your new, GIVE BEFORE YOU GET, it really doesn't matter how long you belong to the board what matters is how much you contribute to the board over the years. Contribute nothing then you'll only get what is posted publicly, nothing back channel.
I have never met Bombastic but I have met Vino through a member that no longer belongs to the board. Vino is a VERY generous guy!! He really appreciates this board and try's to protect it in any way possible from anyone who could possibly be LE so as to protect the other members and the girls. Enough said.---VS

I had occasion to be in your fair city and picked up blond Sara (Sarah?) in front of Best B who I expect is well known on this board. Since I was not on my home turf, I was off my game and had my smart phone charging.
Wow is she orally talented! But, she was staring at the phone for a while since it was in the cup holder on the console she was perched on. Temptation won and as she ran from the car at the drop off so fast, I wondered wtf? No phone left on the end of the charger. You have to hide anything of value or they will suck it as well as you right in to their pocket.
It is a game and I lost this round except for a lesson learned and the hope she got good money for an expensive phone and gave it to charity!
ps - she could outrun me for sure based on my quick view - hah hah - maybe you guys should organize a SW foot race - my money is on Sara
Vino wins hands down. However, I do think you should share info with visitors to your city who have earned their stripes elsewhere.
We pose no threat to honing in on new finds since we do not live there. You can easily glance at our posts to see if we are contributors.
Any time an outsider reaches out to me in Virginia, I give info if they have credible contributions elsewhere. BTW, most of the good finds here in Virginia are not on the board so unless I share with you, you would never know.
I usually PM posters when I travel and have some success in other cities. Some times it is just a hey - no useful info but good luck. I reached out to a number you on this board and got not one single response.

For one reason or another, many of us, like myself have been here for quite some time, but due to time constraints or personal reasons, we just haven't had the time to really sit down and post and contribute as much as we would like to. I for one work full time and I have a fiancee that keeps me occupied through most of my off time, as a matter of fact I have not been able to monger as much as I'd like to due to her moving in with me now and my job taking off.
Its a shame that the join date of our members are not displayed, or that all the senior members are always so hostile towards us. We are not bad people, we just haven't earned our stripes yet. I personally do NOT blame any of you for being very cautious and careful with giving out numbers and info, but guys, theres really no need to be nasty about it, we are all here for the same reason, share the same passion and most of all. Whether we are senior members or new members, we run the SAME risks as everyone else here. Instead of being nasty towards new members, why not help them get started in the right direction so that they can further contribute, an extra pair of eyes on the street could be beneficial to us all!
So lets just let this fly guys, no need to get so upset over this.
