What's my temp with "Yellow (or Latin) Fever?"
On Sunday morning I had some free time. Stopped by BO, no cars, all was quiet. I always park at the strip mall across the street. When I got in mammasan came to the door and yelled at me to put a mask on; forgot mine in the car. After putting one of their masks on she takes my temp and it shows as 101.6, she did it again and it came up as 100.6, she then said I can't let you in. Well I knew I wasn't running a fever so I went over to MC around the corner and walked in, no mask, no problem, Kiko took my temp aaaaaand- 98.6, she did it twice with the same results...
After seeing other reports about guys being asked to "sit in their car to wait" (at MC a few weeks back) and the car being HOT, and then also experiencing what I'm certain was a false reading on a Thermo-scan thermometer at another AMP, I started taking some "precautions" so as NOT to have that issue again. If I know I don't have a fever, and I don't trust either the device the AMP may use or their judgment of the reading, at around 5 or 10 minutes before I will be exiting my car (whether I'm going to sit in a parking lot or just walk right in), I turn the A/C down to "Snow Blizzard" level and turn OFF all of the dash vents except the ONE that I can point most easily and directly at my face and forehead. By the time I get to the door my forehead still even FEELS cold, but the biggest problem I had was (the first time I tried this) that the Mamasan took my temp and it read something ridiculous, like 86 degrees or something. It was comical to see the look of disbelief on her face as she studied the device being all but certain the batteries must be failing or something. She took my temp 4 more times while apologizing that the device must not be working right, then she let me in anyway. I have since fine-tuned my "cool down" to assure my reading will be within reasonable limits. You could achieve the same result if you happen to have an ice cold aluminum soda / pop can that you could hold up to your forehead for a minute or so. Just make sure you KNOW you don't have a fever if doing this, as the purpose of this precaution is just to avoid a false reading due to being in a hot car cabin for any length of time.
