I've had providers in the past that looked so removed from what they were doing, I felt sorry for them, actually, because I think they make it worse for themselves.
In my high school days, working in fast food, I would have seriously gone insane if all I did was flip burgers, without, for example, talking to my co-workers.
No matter what the providers' situations are for working at those places, the only way it could possibly be more bearable is if they interact with the customers, I think.
I don't get those people,
