The way I see it, at noon I had a 5:30 reservation after being told it was available. At 5 pm I was told that it was a "maybe". I gave her the benefit of the doubt and assumed a 5:30 time was still possible. Once 5:30 hit and no confirmation, all prior arrangements were off and I was free to schedule with someone else. I kept my end of the bargain, but she didn't.
I do not, and did not, double book. If a provider breaks the deal, she spins the wheel. She takes her chances to see if she still gets my money.
If P1 does come through, let her know that you're sorry but you had to make other plans and you hope it works out next time.
Do that once or twice (assuming you even try twice more with a no show girl), P1 will get the message and understand that you're serious. And that she is seriously out some cash.
Despite the fact it seems this should work, doesn't always work. Not about logic with these women. More about the immediate need for a cash fix.
