I und4 erstand that they are making it sound like they are working with the city but I have a feeling that this is under the table. Since they are a private security service and NOT LE they may not be legally allowed to get owners information by running a plate.

" I'm guessing the rent-a-cops will turn over the plate numbers of frequently seen cruisers in the area to the city. Then the city will run the plates and the letter will be mailed with city letterhead. This is nothing new. They did this many years ago for the street walking problem that existed on Wisconsin Avenue between 27th and 35th Street. At that time the neighbors provided the plate numbers of cars in the area cruising.

If this company is being hired by the City, or on their behalf, it will be very easy for them to get it. Some large companies in Wisconsin run the plates of cars entering their lots automatically using special software analytics and they have no issues getting access to that DMV info. It's best to just assume you are on camera most of the time in areas that have a street-walker presence.

Man, back in the day, I'd come to Miltown, cruise Wisconsin, up 27th, Lisbon to 35th, 35th to North, North east to MLK, MLK up to Capital, then down Teutonia or Atkinson.
