Holy Shit! And here the rest of you mongers had convinced me to upgrade my rudimentary flip phone to something that takes pictures! This is why I'm terrified of technology. The good news is that I don't even know how Facebook works, nor do I think I could ever manage it, so I guess I'm safe for now.

Get a cheap camera, with a flash and one that uses an SDcard, so you can remove evidence in a pinch.

I just use the web browser on the phone for FB. The mobile version of their site works fine for me. I knew the app would do something like you describe, plus, I don't want FB to know my mobile number. I don't trust FB.

If you have a Facebook app on your phone, it can see the numbers / email addresses stored in your phone and match it up with that person's Facebook account.

I just opened my own FB account, went to Account Settings, Edit Friends, then clicked on Contacts in the left-hand column. There I found a list of everyone in my phone as well as my FB friends. The list shows the name they used on the FB account (often a real name) even if they give you a fake name, or even if you enter the name into your phone as "Blond Latina" or whatever.

On the positive side, it let me see the girl's real names, look at their photos, see pics of them with their dog or kids. And if they are stupid enough not to hide it, I can see their Friends list too. That can be fun, but I assume that they can also see mine too. (Oh, this works not just for pros, but for anyone you have in your phone. Work contacts, the Pizza place, whatever. If they have your phone number, they can find your FB account if you have one.)

I was surprised to see a few girls phones registered to a man's name! Hmmm.

If you use FB, think twice about giving a girl your number. While I doubt that 99. 9% of them will figure this out, it is at least possible to do.

Also, if you use FB, think about hiding your Friends list. You can do this in your FB settings. Imagine a girl finds who you are through her phone app, then goes to all your FB friends and writes to them that you are a monger and did not even tip her.

If you have a blackberry you can disable the functionality to have FB link to your device contacts list. Though always a good idea to keep your device free of "contacts" and good suggestion on getting a disposable phone.

Newbie here. I lurk alot and know alot of you guys are "Seasoned vets" so I want your opinion. I was passing 79th and Lejeune there was a gas station on the corner and there was a fairly attractive LSW with shorts and I guess a bikini top. Had her hair in a pony tail and looked twice my way, the second time winking and nodding her head. I've never picked up any of these ladies, but this just seemed to have sting written all over it. But damn she was cute. What ya'll think? How can you differentiate between SW and LEO? If too attractive likely a setup?
