Discussion boards live and die in how well the quality and quantity of the comments are balanced.
Heartily agree with this! I may be newish here, but I've spent countless hours on discussion boards both good and bad. IMHO, the best boards / forums have moderation that is, well, moderate. Too heavy-handed and the amount of actual discussion will drop off. Too light, or too permissive, and the quality plummets. Neither is a good situation regarding the long-term health of the board.
Banning the provider along with her 'sock-puppet' accounts is totally reasonable and prudent. That sort of moderating action is necessary to prevent us from being overrun with trolls, shills, spam, etc. Someone like that will only cause trouble over time. If she's really a good provider, there wouldn't seem to be any need to do that anyway. I know some hobbyists are hesitant to post negative reviews, but I think most will post a positive review when it's called for.
However, I'm not sure I entirely agree with the concept of banning all {mention} of the guilty provider. I understand you don't want to enable that kind of behavior and don't want them to unfairly take advantage of the board. There is still potentially very useful intel to be had there though. Suppose a new hobbyist joins the board some time from now, reads and absorbs all the admonitions to "post intel before asking for any". I've seen, more than once, the advice to a newbie to TOFTT and then report back in order to gain some credibility. So since he sees no mention of this guilty provider (good or bad) on the board, he decides he would possibly be proving some good info by seeing her and making his first report. But whether he has a bad experience or a great one, he won't be able to share it. If it was positive, not too big a deal, she'll just lose out on a bit of advertising. But if it was negative, then some other monger down the line may well fall victim as well.
Perhaps Molly's suggestion of a note indicating that the provider has been found to use shill accounts in the past would be more informative. It still lets people know to be skeptical of positive reviews by a new poster, and it allows them to make an informed decision when the report is from an established poster. Far be it from me to suggest an increase in anyone's workload normally. . . However, this doesn't seem like a big increase over the current method of erasing posts and warning posters. Perhaps it is, I don't have experience on the administrative side of message boards. My impression of the moderation here is pretty good, so I'm just providing another viewpoint rather than making a complaint. Stay safe and good luck everyone!
It was brought to my attention via text that a provider is bad mouthing me. People change well I have 21 months sober on Saturday I am not the same uncaring woman I once was.
Also some of the things said was very untrue. So I would appreciate if you would please keep Stormy out of your mouth. I have apologized for my wrongs and have moved forward from the past. Riding off into the sunset on bigger things.
Much love,
Stormy.
Thats not the point Stormy. I simply warned other providers as to who you were. I didn't say you currently were. I just know from experience what it was like. Anyone can apologize. I just don't see it being heartfelt. I think the only reason you are apologizing is so you somehow put your own guilty conscience to rest. I am and always will be a great person and you took advantage of that some things can't be undone with a simple apology. Too much damage was done so with that I wish you the best but I had every right to warn others. I thought the whole purpose of all of us working together was to keep everyone informed and safe for that I will not apologize.

Just sit back and laugh for the fact that someone is that bored to be worried about you. No one is perfect and no one should claim to be. And everyone makes mistakes, so don't be sorry for something you fixed. Be proud about it babe.

I have never laid my hands on anyone. I have never been charged with assault. My only charge ever is financial. What happened between us should have never happened and I don't have a guilty conscience I have a sober well being. I don't expect you to forgive but I can stay well and sober admitting my wrongs. My prayers are with you.

I don't know about other people but where I come from if a person tells you something about another person you don't go run your mouth. To me that's just starting shit and very juvenile. Now you have 2 people I guess who had their differences in the past back at each other, and why? Because somebody couldn't just listen to what was said they had to go tell it.
[BLUE]In another city I discovered a provider that had 7 aliases where she was posting as a monger to solicit business. Per forum SOP I pronounced the death sentence on the chick. Nobody was allowed to post reviews about her. I specifically warned the seniors that if somebody did it once I would warn them, if they did it twice I would put them back on moderation. Some guy (long time member) who liked this chick decided to give me a big fuck you and the next two posts in the thread immediately following mine, were from the same guy saying I shouldn't do this and she's a good provider.
In other words, I said "don't do it twice" and he said, "ok, here's two times." So I put him on moderation.
Since you guys don't have a dog in the fight what say you? Should I not deny the benefit of the forum to chicks that make fake profiles and post as mongers? Should I not prohibit guys from writing reviews about chicks that do that? Was putting that guy back on moderation a dick move? Even though this is written in blue, if you think I was a power mad nazi faggot cocksucker with delusions of grandeur you can say that. (that's my most commonly received insult)
Your responses will weigh heavily in how we go forward on this issue forum wide.
A2[/BLUE]
Obviously she has violated a clear rule, and your SOP was followed. It's your board and sanction the guy as you see fit, but keep in mind once you strip away the circumstances, all this guy really did is think with his dick. So let he without sin cast the first stone. We often give folks a second chance when they post while intoxicated to retract or clarify their previous post. Maybe you should consider letting this guy get sober from being pussy drunk?

I do hope that these two ladies can work things out and that stormy stays sober. They are both highly talked about and loved with the board and the gentlemen. Plus there is always three sides to the story, he said she said and then the truth. No one has to like each other but as long as we all get along and can continue to vouch refs for one another to keep each other safe, then we can go on and keep the peace here. I like silk very much and she has always been helpful, but with her being pregnant, maybe the past should be the past because that little bundle of joy is what's most important. I would not ever wish stress on a pregnant women nor someone who is trying to stay sober. I wish both you ladies the best and hope you all can get past this.
