They might want other info that you may or may not want to disclose, your call. (like work phone so she can get some comfort level of who you are) Assure her that the LE check will be first and thorough to her satisfaction. Probably would help if you picked an off hour to dive in like a weekday morning / afternoon. Maybe you even have to offer a premium compensation just to break in? There are SP's that will accept donations from a newbie, they usually say so in their BP ads. Your first experience or two might be less than spectacular. Consider being honest. You might find some sympathy that would work out to your favor.

Please understand how stuff works from the perspective of a SP. This may come as a shock but there are those in law enforcement that consider some things that go on as less than legal. No one here has any desire to break the law. I have often considered if I was just getting into the hobby I would approach it by asking a SP to lunch and pay for an hour of her time. Nothing even remotely illegal in that.

Thank you for the kind words. There are certainly days that RTFF is the right response. In this case, this guy seemed to really be looking for good advice and not just access to my Rolodex. I was there once and really appreciate the hobbiests, mongers and SP's that we're kind to me.
