Most SP's I have seen smoke in their rooms. My strategies to minimize smoke contamination follow:

I get undressed ASAP and put my clothes in a bag I carry. Particularly for a first visit, I try to bring a small gift: chocolates, wine, etc. With me and carry the the gift in a travel or shopping bag--The gift justifies the bag.

If I don't have the bag, I bundle my clothes up and leave the bundle on a hard surface chair or counter (Worst place to leave your clothes is on fabric or carpet) . Once I was able to put my clothes is an unused dresser drawer.

If it is real smokey, I ask to take a quick shower before I leave so I can get the smoke off me.

Lastly I also try to have a change of clothes in the car trunk.

It is often hard to walk away because your little head is hard to argue with sometimes. A bad first impression for looks, mess, smoke, other smells, or attitude usually damages the experience in some way. So it is better to leave, convince yourself to leave quickly if you feel bad at all. You have to go in thinking about your exit plan if this initial meeting turns out to be bad.

I have stayed to be nice to them too many times. Be ready to turn around. When you are ready to leave you are even happier when they turn out to be the one or one just a cute (there is a young fake photo crowd who take a while to get comfortable showing their own body on the ad). It took me a long time to get good at turning around and leaving.

When you stay when you should not have you get a rude, smelly, homely woman who is angry at you because you are going limp in the middle of a really bad experience.
