A2[/BLUE][/QUOTE]I think you did the right thing. If you didn't keep the board in line, everyone would be taking advantage and doing things they shouldn't. You gave more than a warning with the very first post. You are the boss and people shouldn't undermine you just because.

I don't think you're on a power rush or anything. The thing that differentiates this board from some of the crap board like NR is the moderation and time you put in to keep it reasonably clean. If a provider is masquerading as a monger she needs to be booted. If she is working really closely with a "regular member" who is new with just a few posts he should be booted as well. I would cut a Sr. Member a little slack with a warning or two. The threat of going back to moderation should straighten him out.

For those of you who don't know, A2 is the ALL POWERFUL and sits in COMMAND CENTRAL which is a large room with about 15 large screens scrolling each post as it is entered into the system. He has his keyboard in the middle with a KILL button on his left and a BLUE TYPE key on his right. There is a dedicated computer that matches each IP address with the user name to assure we don't have rogue posters. Actually, there are 16 screens but the 72" screen in the middle is dedicated to porn. -- Just kidding. A2 is a dedicated moderator who sits in a more modest setting and just works his ass off for all of us "users." The most impressive part of his office is the stripper pole that is located nearby. This co-location is on purpose so he can continue to moderate the boards while the stripper parties are in full-on action.

Independent of why, in your role as site admin, you made a field call. No comments / post / whines about this particular provider. You were clear in the consequences. Once gets a warning, twice gets moderation. Then some guy comes along and pretty much overtly says "F**k you". Not once but twice. That's pretty much saying "I dare you" to moderate me. Personally, moderation is probably a light sentence for this one since you probably framed up the punishment for inadvertent mentions. Not purposeful like this. But whatever, moderate that boy.

As to the death sentence, it goes to intent. Doesn't matter if she gives the best or worst BBBJ in town, this board is about playing it straight and posting as a monger for any reason is off limits.

So I'd say you're two for two on this one. No dick moves here in my book.

Separately, I appreciate that you (in your all powerful blue A2 font) feel comfortable in here asking for advice on something like this. A true "PMNFC w / DoG" would never consider the possibility that this might be a dick move and that fact that you look to us as a sounding board is a great comment on the fact that we might actually be a sane group. I'm a big believer in crowd sourcing. Any large group will always be more correct than any one expert. It's a fine line we walk here. Obviously the forum is for the use of the community. If the community isn't engaged it goes away. At the same time we have to pull some semblance of order from the chaos (especially in a free vs paid subscription model) I don't want to lean to heavy into being the 'rules' guy either.

Of course I would involve you guys. This was the first fight club and you guys understand more than anybody that on this thread I'm just another asshole and you can tell me I was wrong. I place enormous value in the opinions of the mongers in my beloved adopted city.

I think we do have a dog in the fight. Rules are made for a reason it makes for a somewhat even playing field. Ultimately you have final say in what is and what is not allowed. When one breaks the rules even after being told twice there needs to be ramifications. It is what makes us all safer here. IMHO there is no room for this type of behavior here. Like has been said its your playground we have permission to play here as long as we do it by the book. No different than any other pastime we may partake in. I like a tight ship!

Seriously, with respect, I disagree. The forum is a community, when the issue is "what's best for the community" then the collective wisdom has to be better than the few, with the exception of The One who is known as Jackson. There is some stuff we do by decree but at other times I think respecting the wishes of the membership is a good idea. The difficult part is threading the needle between the two.

So the balance of comments were to ban the chicks user group but not to disallow discussion about her. So I decided to reverse myself. Even though the actions of the guy were most certainly a big fuck you admin, had I not made my original decision then it would have never happened, so I got to accept responsibility for the whole tree after my first choice.
