There's also the question of what names get disclosed. There might be five people in the world who would care if my name got disclosed (counting me), and it's not like the media has unlimited space to print names. There are different levels of comfort. My own solution was to sign up with a verification service based in Canada that does business in the principal city that I travel to when I'm working, and that has worked well. I've been away from the hobby for a while (what with the shitty economy and all), but when I'm getting back in, I've got a service that will vouch for me, and that has lists of lots of ladies that rely on that service. It would require serious LE effort to get a Canadian service to disclose my name, and nobody's going to make that effort just to bust some guy banging an escort for an hour or two.

Would I give a lot of identifying information to a local agency? Probably not, but if it was an operation that I'd seen in business for a long time, I might do it. If it's some numbskull posting on CL -- forget it, there's too many other possibles.
