Although I totally get the math behind "own vs rent", I'd want a situation that lent itself to getting the hell out and not looking back.

My business partner and I had a commitment to service a client in PDX for a year. One or both of us had to be there a couple days a week for that year, but we weren't ever there at the same time.

The number of SB's who are willing to host in my experience is quite limited. My first monthly was able to host but truthfully I was a lot more comfortable in settings I controlled. Her place was small, rather disorganized and not what I would call an ideal place either. Small studio on capital hill.
