Many of the places that I go to do not claim to be offering "massage" by "massage therapists. " Rather, they claim to be providing "healing touch" and "muscle activation techniques. " So, they are not subject to fines.
The article says that the massage parlors were closed because "the businesses also violate state licensing requirements by using unlicensed workers. " While 18 massage parlors were closed, only four people were arrested. So, this is kind of a publicity stunt. The police closed a lot of parlors, but they did not arrest that many people for doing illegal stuff. This kind of a stunt would be harder to pull off in Virginia.
Wonder if he was ever successful though.

I know privacy is essentially dead and buried, but this was an eye-opener for me because of how easily and cheaply the data can be obtained. LEO has always had access to this but it's not good news for anyone who might find themselves as the target of a stalker or for anyone who has a suspicious spouse, boyfriend / girlfriend, malicious business partner, etc.

They visit the mother of a criminal with outstanding warrants and encourage her to tell her son that he should turn himself in and make it easier on himself. They wait outside after they leave and she calls her son, they get that number and determine it's location. As related to me by a member of an apprehension team.

It's one thing to use such tools to catch terrorists or hardened criminals, but what if they decide to go after mongers someday? I frankly wouldn't be surprised if there are some do-gooders out there encouraging Uncle LEO to do so, citing "trafficking" and other excuses.
