After my session with Tanya at Ospa on Saturday I exited the establishment. I was flagged down by a monger in an Suv. Apparently, he had been too forthright, insistent at the door and had been denied entry. Remember, subtilty is all when dealing with asian!

Knowing WW was supposedly moving I called to see if they actually did. MMS told me they already moved and gave me new address. Got to new location but name is not WW anymore but still same phone number.

One suspect arrested in brothel crackdown

Scattered around Thousand Oaks are a handful of businesses that look legit enough.

Stickers on the windows advertise how Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted. Doctors, hair designers and restaurateurs hang shingles right next door. The businesses even advertise in the local newspaper.

But what goes on inside these businesses is anything but legal, said Ventura County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Mike De Los Santos.

Three massage parlors in Thousand Oaks and one Camarillo home were searched Wednesday as part of a crackdown on parlors suspected of doubling as brothels.

Though officials are not sure if all the suspected brothels are connected, the roughly 35 "massage technicians" who worked at the various businesses often moved among locations, De Los Santos said.

Though only one arrest was made, others could come, De Los Santos said.

"It's a large operation," he said, standing outside one of the massage parlors on Thousand Oaks Boulevard, just beside a dentist's office. "It shows that if it's here, it's everywhere."

The Sheriff's Department has been getting complaints about the parlors for years and started an investigation six months ago, De Los Santos said. Another parlor in Westlake Village was raided last month.

On Monday, deputies searched the Oriental Health Center at 1459 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Suite A, and arrested owner Gui Yun Wang, 42, of Camarillo, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit prostitution and keeping a house of ill fame.

Also searched was New Life Acupuncture at 253 Lombard St., Suite B, and HWA Rong Acupuncture Acupressure at 951 S. Westlake Blvd., Suite 200. Another business that has since moved was searched, as well as Wang's Camarillo home.

The masseurs will be cited if they do not have massage licenses. No clients were arrested over the course of the investigation.

Though no Ventura County sheriff's deputies did any undercover work, an outside agency did do some at the Westlake Village location, De Los Santos said. He declined to say what agency that was. Other information came from "Johns" coming out of the businesses, he said.

In addition to complaints, De Los Santos said, the whereabouts of the parlors were as easy to find as picking up the Ventura County Star. Advertisements in the classified section routinely boast such things as "new girls" and "free table showers." The VC Reporter also advertises such services.

Star Publisher Tim Gallagher said the paper accepts advertisements from businesses with a legal license, but at times, the language of the advertisements has to be toned down. If the business is deemed illegal, the advertisements are pulled, he said.

"If we are battling for the First Amendment, and it's a legal business, we'll accept their ads," Gallagher said.

De Los Santos said the illegitimate businesses take away from the bona fide masseurs trying to make a living. More scrutiny will be given to masseurs and business when they apply for licenses, he said.

Though the searches were limited to Thousand Oaks, such places exist all around the county, he said.

At the parlors raided on Monday, the procedure would usually entail a client asking for a massage and paying about $60 for it, De Los Santos said. The client would then initiate something more — sometimes including full intercourse — and give a large tip on top of the massage rate.

This came as little surprise to the business owners around the parlors.

"There was a lot of traffic, a lot more than you'd see for an acupuncturist," said Jay Perry, manager of Johnny P's A Place for Ribs, which is just below HWA Rong Acupuncture Acupressure. He'd see as many as 20 men, often middle-aged and seemingly middle to upper class, go into the business each day, he said.

De Los Santos said the quality of the parlors depended on their location. Some were small and quaint, others had six rooms and lavish decorations.

"That place," he said, referring to the one in Westlake Village, "looked like a five-star hotel."

In the clip it says SIX places were shut down and MANY people arrested. This thing is deeper than first appeared. Unless the report was in error, that would basically mean every place in T.O. is shutdown I guess.

This is more serious than it appears. I'd like to hear if any of you are now experiencing (or have heard of) much more cautious behaviour on the part of the massuesse at your favorite establishment. With SIX busts, the owners must know that the axe has struck very close to home, and even if they are extremely carefull here on out, it may still be too late

I particularly liked the cop's view that these places bring a lot of crime and drugs into the area. I've always been surprised at how clean and friendly the mms and girls are. No hint of drugs, gangs or criminal activity in the AMPs. Am I wrong?

THOUSAND OAKS - [b]Nine women were arrested and six massage parlors closed in a crackdown on prostitution following a six-month investigation, authorities said Thursday.[/b]

[i]And more arrests are expected in the case being investigated by the Thousand Oaks police and Ventura County sheriff's departments and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. [/i]

The accusations include pandering, immigration violations and misdemeanor massage license violations.

Although the standard fee for a massage was $40 to $60, some men paid separate fees - referred to as "tips" - for sexual services, investigators said.

"The prostitutes will often receive this payment in the form of a `tip' from their customers after the sexual act in an attempt to avoid the elements of prostitution," sheriff's Sgt. Mike De Los Santos said.

He said it was important to crack down on such illegal sex businesses because they typically lead to more vice-related crime.

"If you have five of them, you will end up getting 10 of them," he said.

Some of those arrested were Chinese nationals living illegally in the United States. "People who are lured to this country for illicit purposes are often treated like a commodity, making them vulnerable to all kinds of exploitation," said ICE Agent David Wales. "ICE is committed to working with its local law enforcement partners to dismantle criminal enterprises like this one that threaten not only the welfare of those involved, but also the quality of life in our communities," he said.

The arrests were made when search warrants were served June 14 and Wednesday, and the people taken into custody were from various parts of Southern California, including Granada Hills, Moorpark, Camarillo, Santa Paula, Rosemead, Pasadena and Alhambra. They include:

Yan Jun Hu, 39, of Granada Hills, the owner of the Asian Wellness Center, 166 N. Moorpark Road, who was arrested on suspicion of pandering.

Shuying Qi, 43, of Moorpark, the owner of Chinese Acupuncture Center, 1337 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., and Reflexology Plus, 5565 Lindero Canyon Road, on suspicion of pandering.

Gui Yun Yang, 42, of Camarillo, the owner of the Oriental Health Center, 1459 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., on suspicion of conspiracy to commit prostitution and keeping a house of prostitution.

Two misdemeanor arrests were also made at the HWA Rong Chinese Medical Clinic at 951 S. Westlake Blvd. Another arrest on suspicion of failing to obtain a license was made in connection with the former Asian Health Center Spa on Thousand Oaks Boulevard that recently closed.

I was at one of these places last night. I called them at about 8:45 PM to see if they were open and she said she would wait, they close at 9 PM. Got 30 minute massage for 40. Nice lady wearing what looked like a nightie. Only got a HJ but she did not ask for a tip and she gave me her number. I called her tonight to see what was going on but had to leave a message. Hope she calls back so I can get the low down.

I have always wondered why Oxnard doesn't bust the AMP's. I travel from coast to coast, and they have to provide some of the best services in the country, but thank god no one has tried to put them out of business. With these big busts first hitting the San Fernando Valley, and now Thousand Oaks, it won't be long before Simi and a few other local areas are hit by LE.

I really believe they offer more of a service by keeping thier clients minds and head(s) busy.

Been watching this for a while and it only surprises me that they let it go on as long as they have. You can't do this sort of thing where da' white folks live. Zoning is all it is. Oxnard and Ventura are OK for the sport but not T.O., Camarillo, Westlake Village, Moorpark, etc as there are too many porky's out there that don't want their men folk to get any ideas. They have too much to lose if the old iron grip is to be challenged. So they make a campain (misspelling intended) of phone call complaints to the sheriff and PD and probably city councilmen being a general pain in the ass. It is not in these type of women to just leave it alone since they get off on control at all levels.
Would not surprise me at all if the next to go is Simi. Granted it is a blue collar town too but way too white and just a tiny bit too upscale. That means my favorite places in Oxnard and Ventura are going to get crowded and expensive again. Oh well, the things we do for love............LDP
