Sir lancelot hate to break it to you
"regular" girls escorting is fictional. Any girl who chooses this business whether it be streetwalking or hotel escorting all have an underlying issue. The reason doesn't always have to be drugs. Behavioral health goes way deeper than popping mollys or shooting dope. I am a little taken back by your statement as a senior member on a forum specifically for mongers stating that you hope for the decriminalization of sex work.
I don't live in your neck of the woods, but it's the same where I am and my area is more well known for street walkers. I'm close to Kensington Phila and also Camden NJ.
Online and on the streets things aren't the same. On the streets or online you have to put in a inordinate amount of time to score and sometimes you still might not even score. There is now loads of scammers, people pushing Onlyfans and others that are straight up robbing.
Between craigslist / backpage and the second wave opioid epidemic that started around 2010 that's what pushed a lot of talent into the streets and online. When the websites got shutdown (FOSTA-SESTA) and doctors starting getting in trouble for pushing pills that put an end to that era; it wasn't just covid-19, but covid was the final nail because everyone is getting unemployment money and stimulus checks.
Don't think I want to see that era again though. All the awesome girls I knew from that era are deceased or completely strung out. It's sad and depressing. There are some hotels / motels I can't even go to anymore because the memories are so good and the girls I made them with are gone.
Moving forward, hopefully more steps will be taken to push for the decriminalization of sex work so regular girls who aren't addicted to drugs can see adult entertainment as a viable means of an income.
Don't we hobbyists too have underlying issues?

Cops have much bigger fish to fry, than the low hanging fruit of these girls or guys who hobby with these girls.
