But when I'm offering help, in the form of a heads-up, no matter how brief (as long as it's accurate) , then it seems to me that the help ought simply to be accepted in the spirit in which it was offered. If I was on the other side of that trade, that's what I would do.

Think of it as a practical application of the 80/20 rule. What I put out there was the 20% of the info that was important for that moment. If somebody was interested enough in seeing her to want to do the other 80% of the research, then that's absolutely fine, but that's on them to work out.
