Question from fellow mongers. Was talking to SW Nicole on Ave but she didn't get in car. LE was parked nearby in black car and asked me what I was doing, where I lived and why in Hartford. He than said "we both know why yr here, if I see you again cruising the Ave I will cite you for trespassing or will bust you in undercover sting" Can he actual ban me from cruising Ave and talking to girls without them getting in my car and even if they did, so long as she is not miked up, can I be either arrested or given a trespassing ticket?
Unless the girl is a cop and we discuss price with a sex act, since when is cruising Ave illegal or talking to girls?
Cop was badgering me with questions and I did my best to stay silent. Any advice on what's legal and not legal and best way to deal with cop who is only assuming but no evidence of soliciting a prostitute.

It's just a ploy to get you to babble and self-incriminate. Don't answer respectfully. Be more like Eddie Haskell as he spoke to Beaver's parents.
His other threats are intimidation. If he did see you there later, he could just invent a charge, to make your life difficult. Odds are, you could go there the next day and he won't remember you. Be mindful of legality vs reality OR book smart vs street smart.

It's important to remember that the crime fighting aspect of a police officer's job is to determine if a crime MAY have been committed and show probable cause to press a charge. The court determines guilt. Even if innocent, an arrest can be a real problem to future life, as well as expensive. When it comes to streetwalkers, most beat cops know who all or most of them are. Talking to girls is not a problem, talking to specific girls is.
Officers working a certain area also are very aware of behavior patterns to watch for, and many police cars now have plate scanners. Newer plate scanners are much smaller and not as easily visible on the car. They no longer need takeout container sized boxes bolted to the roof and deck lid. There's a decent chance they already knew who the car was registered to, what town it's from, and possibly how many recent hits the same plate had in the area (looping). Lots of areas SW's hang out in may also be covered by PD cameras on the street.

You also are not Obligated to assist the officer in any type of investigation that the officer may or may not be conducting.

Chances are the cops were sitting in an unmarked black car because they were watching for something bigger than some random guy talking to a SW, that may be why he told you to beat it.
Something similar to this happened to me many years ago in Harlem (back when I was young and stupid) and I happily drove away alone and never came back.
While talking to someone outside your car is not a crime, no matter who you were talking to, a cop could make your life miserable by busting you on a bogus charge. The charges would eventually be dropped but you've already paid a price.

And I recently learned that engaging with a UTR runs the risk of being charged for trafficking because it could be interpreted as recruiting or enticing someone into the hobby (as opposed to engaging with someone who posts an ad and is, therefore, already engaged in the hobby). Yup, the land of the free indeed!

For example, in Mass, I had to do jury duty. Learn a ton. What they do now, is give you documented judges notes in terms of the legalese, rather than the judge read the rules too you & you have to remember them.
I ended up having to be the one, as jury foreman to put away a young guy who went across state lines (to Vegas), with a woman who was his "significant other" but it was "her" idea to go there and earn funds through solicitation. So, based on the "law' and the "definitions", we had no choice but to say guilty. Based on the details.
So, here's a summary of the law & the concept.
1. Even if it's your wife, girlfriend, daughter, couple, friend (aka 2nd party) went over states lines, and you "paid" for that travel, or even was in connection with that travel, and.
2. If the "2nd party engaged in acts of prostitution / solicitation.
3. and say, if she got caught, complained, or had a reason to file a report, that can be used in court, then.
4. It is highly likely you would lose and will go before a judge for Trafficking. And based on at least the Massachusetts definitions, you would lose.
Never pay for travel. That "just pay for my Uber" ride B. S. , is out the window for me. That, I need $25 for gas money to leave the hosting host where they stole my money" -- Nope. LOL.
My advice, don't skip Jury Duty. LOL. You may learn something new. I sure did.
So, at least in Massachusetts, I will give you this one example.
