I definitely can tell at times I have had guys impersonating girls. Once I enter the #s into my phone, SnapChat looks them up, and I can see avatars that are males.

Bots and scammers have been around, and it was well publicized when Ashley Madison had the spotlight on them. They admitted to using employees of the company to spam / send fake messages to users in order to appear they had more members and getting us to renew. Tinder does the same thing. Many scammers use bots / programs in hopes of getting you to send them money and they are in another country at times. There are countless articles online with proofs and examples of this. Sometimes it is done by scammers. Sometimes it is done for the mere fun of catfishing people, and other times it is secretly done by the sites (Tinder, SA, Bumble. , Ashley Madison) in order to get you to keep interested. Keep in mind there is very little regulation in this industry.
In my personal experience, the bot is sometimes obvious as grammar will be bad, the message they will send will not even make sense or stay on topic with the conversation, and its just too good to be true. Lately, I am getting many fake messages, with no ability to follow up with gals on the site (SA). But, yes there are still many real profiles on the site that you can get Far Far Away.

Someone who is trying to get you to buy pix or videos, or really, anything that involves you sending $ to them, without actually meeting up. There are people all over the world who are motivated to do this, and think SA is good fishing ground because 1) the site itself has few ways to be certain who is real or not, because we don't want to be asked to prove *we* are real, and 2) people who get scammed will be embarrassed to report it to someone who could do something, because of the character of the site. There are definitely ways we can fight back against them, or just perceive what they are before hand.

My main point is that I do not believe it is the site itself that is doing this. First of all, I have never ever been contacted by a fake profile. This might be because I keep my profile hidden from search. Which I recommend everyone do, especially anyone who wants to keep on the down low. I see a new profile, it is appealing in some ways but it also raises red flags. If I favorite it or message it, I may find out shortly it is fake and then block it.
