Ya, I'm still debating between the two. It's a tough one. Which of the two would you stay at Uki? Forget what the hotel has to offer but use the location to mongering spots? On ISG, it sounds like Manila Bay Cafe is the spot to go. There's also a few mentions of Burgos Street and not much about EDSA.
What online hotel booking site you got those prices? That's not bad. Try use Agoda to compare the rooms and what it offers. Not saying book with Agoda as Agoda can be pricier. But, just use the site to compare the 2 hotels. Plus, it shows alot of pics. The Diamond one is cheaper and is pretty nice. It is close to the MBC. P Burgos does have some pricey bars there but, you go AMPs here in Hi so, the price won't really discourage you. Get some nice chicks in Burgos though damn. That's why it is pricier up there. EDSA near Mall of Asia is Manilas version of Nana Plaza in Bangkok. Just a complex with gogo bars. Prices there would be cheaper than Pricey Burgos Street. There's not much hotels around EDSA though. Plus, I wouldn't want to stay in that area.
By the way, didn't you go PI before?

By the way, didn't you go PI before?
Ya. Skipped Manila when we landed and went straight to Angeles City! Someone from ABC hotel picked us up! Crazy fun! On the way back we didn't have time to monger in Manila either! I miss Angeles a lot BTW! Everyone was really nice and it was more about customer service then about commission LOL as hard as that may sound in the sex industry.
On this trip, it's going to be short so I think I'm going to just try Manila out. I was kinda afraid of the prices and business attitudes of the girls from all the stories I heard but everyone's got to try it once right? You're very helpful BTW with your advice.
Thanks and appreciate it!

Thanks and appreciate it!
Ah, so you really haven't ventured around Manila. The thing about Manila, the taxi drivers are aggressive in approaching you. They'll hollar at you when you're walking around. Just ignore and keep walking. Plus, they'll have a tendency to not have the meter turned on. If they don't turn on the meter, just get out. Plenty of other taxis to take. Make sure they turn on the meter before they start driving. Tell him to turn it on. Forget the flat rate quote. Their flat rates are normally higher. Don't ride in the taxi also if someone is already in there other than the taxi driver. Most taxis are the white colored ones. But, be warned about cars acting as taxis. The meters on the taxi should start at 32-35 pesos around there. Airport taxis (yellow ones) start at a higher rate. I think it was 70-75 pesos when the meter is turned on. When you catch a taxi going to a particulater bar, some taxi drivers will want to try and suggest other places they recommend. They'll try and discourage you from going to P Burgos saying its expensive, the girls are not friendly etc etc. They'll say they know of other places they can take you with nicer girls that will stay overnight with you for cheap. Don't listen to them or have them convince you otherwise. A member on ISG have followed the request of the taxi driver and the place he ended up at wasn't great. It's just a way for them to make extra $ off of you. Plus, don't give the cab driver a big bill like 500 pesos or 1000 pesos. They'll say they don't have change and expect to keep the whole thing as tip. Make sure you have smaller bills on you. 20, 50 and 100 pesos bills. Taxi driver tried to do that to me when going to P. Burgos. If they know your a foreigner, going to a gogo bar, they'll take advantage in anyway they can. Oh, also, if you try the hotel to airport transfer it's expensive. It's alot more expensive than catching a taxi outside to the airport. Especially, when you stay at a 5 star hotel. They (the hotel) quoted 1700 pesos or about $40 from Makati to Manila airport. It's nowhere near that price from Makati to the airport. You're better off flagging down your own taxi to the airport.
We should plan a PI mongering trip for Hawaii members!
I've never been to Angeles, but I wouldn't mind going with those of you who have been there.

If you never been to Thailand, its pretty simple to get familiar with Bangkok and Pattaya. These are the two main areas for mongering. If you been to Vegas, then you know that Vegas has the Strip with the big casinos and Downtown area is located north of the strip and has smaller hotel casinos. These are the 2 main areas you would normally gamble in. Bangkok Sukhumvit Road is like LVB strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) Strip and Pattaya is like downtown las vegas. But, Pattaya is located south of Bangkok. Both Las Vegas and Bangkok / Pattaya is mainly flat land with no mountains. Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok is the main Road where the BTS Skytrain runs on. It's Bangkoks Mass Transit System. The Fremont experience in downtown Las Vegas is like Walking Street in Pattaya and Soi Cowboy in Bangkok.
Getting lost in Bangkok is like getting lost in Vegas. It's not hard to get lost when you can easily get back onto Las Vegas Blvd. It's the same with Bangkok. Look for the BTS station (s) or the big buildings that will help give you an idea on where you are at. You cannot help but see the big BTS rail and stations in the middle of Sukhumvit Road. Find your way back onto Sukhumvit Road. Utilize the BTS Skytrain and the MRT Subway in Bangkok, you can cover alot of ground. In fact, you can cover the three main red light districts Patpong, Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy and most of the Soapy massages in Bangkok by the Skytrain alone. You can also hit the main shopping malls with just the Skytrain. But, the Skytrain or MRT subway cannot take you from Bangkok to Pattaya. Too far. Need to take a bus or taxi.
Heh, walking through Soi Cowboy (In Bangkok) or Walking Street (In Pattaya) , it does make you feel like you are in Vegas with all the signs and the lighting. But, instead of Casinos, it's gogo bars.
I've been trying to book some tickets to San Diego for me and 3 of my friends and just got stomped. While searching for the flight, I saw that a round trip would cost about $530 for one passenger. I realized my mistake and changed the search to 4 passengers thinking the airfare would cost the same per person, but the price jumped to about $640 per person. I changed it to 2 passengers and price went back down. I figured that if I bought the tickets 2 at a time I would pay the $530 rate for everyone. Bought first 2 tickets, and when attempting to purchase the other 2, price went back up to $640 again even with only 2 passengers. This happened to anyone before?

-Wackman
The airline companies have certain amount of seats at different price points, so you probably are crossing over into another price point.
I found that the best day to buy Hawaiian Air interisland ticket was on Tuesday, early in the morning. I checked back again on Wednesday and the price went up. This especially true the closer to the date you are flying and on a holiday weekend. Six weeks before the departure usually gives you the best prices.

I experienced everything that Uki E described above. The taxi drivers are in cahoots with the security guards at the hotel, the bellmans, etc. I had inquired about massage from one of the female workers at the New World Hotel were I first stayed at and about thirty minutes later as I was exiting the Greenbelt complex to go back to the hotel, a taxi driver pulled along side me and told me that he'd bring me to a good female massage therapist. I declined and he kept following and hollering at me. Later that day, when I went back to the Greenbelt, he started hollering again and following me. It started to get old.
Several Caucasian foreigners and workers at the New World told me to tell the taxi drivers that I've been to P Burgos Street in the past and to tell them straight that I would only pay 4 pesos. That didn't work and I got the usual,"Pay me what you want when we get there." I experienced that with the tricycle drivers in Laoag and sort of got ripped off. So my friend and I walked to P Burgos that night. I felt safe. It was about 12 midnight. Almost every other business down the street leading to Burgos had an armed guard with a 12 guage shotgun or M16. I guess there was a rugby tournament going on in Manila at that time so there was a lot rowdy Austrailians and Britains yelling and partying. It was like being down Hotel Street in the late 70's where Club Hubahaba was. Not too many male Filipinos that night. A lot of White foreigners, Japanese, Chinese and a lot of Filipina women. Heck, there was also a lot of White dancers and escorts.
Met one dude who was trying to get us to go to a "secret place" to get the cream of the crop escorts. He was telling us that every women in P Burgos were all used up and fucked more than ten men a day. He said that we would have to pay him up front and he would take us there. My friend and I laughed in his face and he took it personally. He was very aggressive with the other tourist, trying to push his viagra and getting them to go with him to his "secret place."
Carry the exact change because they'll say that they don't have change. They'll do that with foreigners. Famous with the tricycle drivers in Laoag. So what I learned to do was to sneak up behind them and hop in the tricycle seat before they saw me and asked to be taken to where I wanted to go. After the ride, I would ask how much, without them being able to see me, and they would charge the regular rate of 11 pesos. When I would step out of the car and they would see me, buffed 220 pound foreigner, they would chuckle and shaked their head. Because I know life is hard there and they were a good sport, I would tip them couple more pesos.
We prepaid 600 pesos, had the same taxi driver who was cool, from Manila to Makati Shangri La and back to the airport on our way home. Some of there famous line is for example,"1700 pesos plus my snack." I told my sister to give him the oreos for the snack and the guy heard and laughed."
This report is in response to Uki's Taxis in Manila (#275).
