Some Thoughts on APPROACH and FRUSTRATIONS in the Hobby
So some convos with other mongers reminds me of a few things that could be important to others. I guess I have evolved a bit in these areas so I'll share the thoughts and perhaps others can contribute their experiences?
First is [b]how one approaches a girl on a "cold call" from a post or advert?[/b] I know most think they have a good approach and of course I am no exception! But I have learned that if I am getting ghosted too many times or having convos fall apart it is time to look at my approach and make adjustments. I know at one point I sent some opening salvos to a trusted monger for comment and got back some helpful suggestions. Didn't take all of them and modified several as some stuff wasn't me. But thinking I had things perfect or good enough was a fallacy. One can always improve! Things change in the hobby and one can adapt to those changes. A good approach and style is important.
First general advice is [b]look at your opening message to advertisers. How are you selling yourself?[/b] How are you distinguishing yourself from the masturbaters, picture collectors, chit-chat time wasters and general idiots? Are you to the point about wanting to meet? Do you state when? Where? Do you ask a question that elicits a reply or response? I mean don't write a novel, but certainly need more than a phrase like "yo!" "hey" "what's up?" or something like that that is easily ignored when a girl is flipping through 100's of replies.
The second part of general advice relates to FRUSTRATION! Yeah, this hobby has plenty of it! I mean I remember when a girl would do dumb stuff, like "hooker time" stuff and I'd go off on them, tell them off, make snide comments, etc. Then I realized somewhere along the line that all I was doing was raising my own blood pressure. No point into getting into a flame ware with a hooker! So some where along the line I got some perspective on things and cut the frustration in half. I know this is hard to do and it isn't something that happens overnight. But [b]keeping the dialogue positive and flowing, certainly has a better chance of success and ending the frustration![/b]
So take a look at one's approach and perhaps even share your approach with another or in the threads. Also look at how one handles frustrations. Might just get some pointers that help improve approach, results and reduce frustration!

Yes, recently I had a nice & successful date with Star. There was no danger and did not get ripped off. However, I respect those who had bad experiences and reported on them.
But I see this discussion has migrated over to other threads too. There seems to be a heightened awareness of bad past behavior. From what I have seen only one dude reported that he actually had a bad experience with this girl, the rest were just "I heard. "
While warnings are good and we should heed them when posted it is interesting that so many jumped in to report what they heard as opposed to what they experienced. Quite the echo chamber on this one apparently? [I](I'll also add that some people change or some circumstances change that negate the prior circumstances)[/I].
So that got me thinking. [I] (yeah, I know, dangerous!}[/I].
Now this is no defense of Star, nor a dig at the dude who kindly reported his actual bad experience (thanks!) But when a "rip-off" happens there are two people involved and perhaps one could have avoided it? [B] Most of the time the key element of a rip-off situation is violating the rule of NO MONEY UPFRONT.[/B]
I found that when I gave up money FIRST, I gave up control of the situation. I mean if someone handed you a bunch of money and you seen the chance to walk away with it, and not have to do anything, wouldn't you do it? So giving money up front plants the seed for a cash & dash situation. Girls in desperate situations are more likely to go this direction.
I'll also say that a bad date, poor performance or girl not meeting the expectations one has for a date is NOT a rip-off. Oh sure with money being tight these days and having a bad date sure can feel like a rip-off! And yeah, poor performance needs to be reported.
I guess you could have a situation where a dude busts into a room and orders you to leave by gun point. But that's pretty extreme. But if one has used the safety chain, then that can stall that attempt. Plus, if you gave no money up front then one could leave or toss the wad of fake bills in one direction and head the other direction.
Point is that as another poster points out - [B]We don't plan to fail, we just fail to plan.[/B] So if one thinks mongering is easy they are likely to fail to use techniques to avoid a rip-off.
So yeah, I knew about the bad reports about Star when I dated her recently. I had dated her years back when she was in Edgemor. So in approaching her for a date this time [b]I made sure that I had control of the situation[/b] and was prepared to bail if needed to stay safe. PLUS, there were substantial elements of her current situation that made past issues mute. One element was that she was advertising car dates. So I took her up on her offer. As the rules state I did not park in "her spot" rather found and used a spot of my own. So in the end I had a good date with Star!

Does that mean every dude will have a good date with her? Does that mean guys can let their guard down?
Oh sure, in general, IF I see a negative review of a girl on the threads I tend to avoid her. After all, who needs a headache? But a negative report on a girl I have seen? That I take heed of and sharpen my approach such that I am not a victim. I can control the situation or let circumstances control me and my money.
But if one uses these threads as their only source of DD or fails to follow "the rules" then they are likely for fall into the "fail to plan" category. It's not hard, it just takes time.
