I keep getting calls from numbers that trace back to BPD HQ's in different parts of the city. I'm guessing it's someone spoofing it and thankfully it's my burner line but still a bit unsettling as it's been happening for like 3 weeks. Anyone else getting these calls rn? I haven't picked up a call yet and no VM.

LE or the FBI are just going to show up. Why would they give you a heads up if they were really after you.

I called them back by hitting redial and they answered with the typical I'd themselves and this line is recorded. I said I was returning a missed call and they said they had not called. They also said there are ways scams can duplicate any number. We wished each other a good day and that was the end of it. Now before you comment, it was my local police on a phone I never call a place with and if they have my number they already know who I am. BTW there is more to life than the hobby and we do get Auto calls and official calls from the local authorities now and then for perfectly normal business.

If you search the number it is from the Boston Police Department. I also found in my search that the police have said people were spoofing their number. I made the mistake of picking up the phone one time and it was interesting. The first thing I notice was the horrific echo. They also had loud background noises playing to make it sound like they were at a police station. The person didn't ask for anyone and when I asked who they were looking for they kept ignoring the question. They kept saying a warrant would be issued for my arrest if I did not comply with their requests. They mention something about the number I had been messaging the day before belonged to a missing girl. They were very convincing, but at the same time there were too many red flags for it to be legit. The last red flag is when he just hung up on me.
