I have attached a picture of that OTR landmark. I guess it can now be told that at one point it was near the epicenter of mongering in Cincinnati.

Great to hear from you. The combination of "Operation Vortex" which concentrated on hassling OTR street folks, with the aid of Sheriff's boys, has done a significant job of sweeping the streets, making OTR a very different place. There are still occasionally finds out there, but the pickings are slim, but worth a look. I have found decent known SWs in the past weeks, but not on every trip. (Doesn't it make one feel old to say "Ah, the good old days...?")
Let us know when you are in Sinsinnati, we'll see if we have any updates.

Maybe Leis' puritanical (and hypocritical) campaign has had the air let out of it. But when will we learn to use the jails for persons who actually pose a REAL threat to our safety? Drugs and sex CAN present a problem, but we should have learned that prohibition only makes them profitable to the underworld. And prostitution, an element of civilization since ancient times, should hardly be a reason to compound the problem of our incarceration obsession. In both cases, what makes sense in an enlightened society is legalization; and focused care on the health problems associated with the underlying problems: unprotected sex and drug overuse.
OK, off my soap box. Yes--I expect that Leis' Taliban will execute fewer hassles in OTR. As Dweezil says, back to previously scheduled mongering updates!!!

CL Ads with LE phone numbers
There's an interesting coversation going on over on the Indy board about a CL ad. According to the reverse directory, the number in the ad was a suburban LE station. Worth reading as you think about tactics that might start to show up in our liberal little town.
Also, had a friend who took a drive through NKY yesterday afternoon. He told me it looked a lot busier than usual. He didn't recognize anybody but wondered if it's the result of folks moving south of the river to find a little piece and quite.
And - WTF happened to the Whitey One Bites at 12th and Madison. There one day, gone the next? The parking lot was a great place to hang in the summer and see who would stoll up to the car. My friend said he had some fond memories of the place. To bad I'll never get that chance now.

If LE were honest and had priorities correct, great. But...
Instead of actually addressing violent street crime, LE hassles SWs, and brothers dealing on the corner. Not that (drug) prohibition has not led to violent wars of territory, but the roots of the problems are being totally ignored. Legalization and control of drugs would pull the rug out from under the massive profits available to those who deal. And make help more readily available to SWs strung out.
Frankly, I have greater sense of threat when I see lots of LE than from brothers and sisters on the street. LE is more deceptive, lying, intimidating and potentially violent than the street brothers or sisters. And at least the street people are not PRETENDING to be someone else.
I am SURE you are not asking whether mongering might be more or less favorable with fewer LE on the street.. I mean... DUH.
Are we less safe? Do you know and follow the rules of the street? Do you adhere to the rules of mongering? (I have posted them many times.)
Do NOT take newbie chances. Keep your big head in charge (good luck). Be aware of your surroundings. When I meet a brother on the street, we know where each of us stands and maintain a healthy skepticism. LE not so...

It is very good that the Voter were not SCAMMED by the Fear and Smear tactic of the the Powers that B. But it AIN'T OVER!
This all started some 12 years ago, when a lot of Downtown Corporations found that it was of great convenience to have there Young up and coming Star living closer to the corporate office. Well at the time, very few and little Housing was available for the Stars and family. It at the time was in the making. It had been on the Books of the Year 2000 Plan for Cincy since 1984. I saw it then while at UC, on a trip to City Hall. It basically cleared out all the Projects from WE/OTR and other housing, and used Gov, Grants and Loans to do it. The Promise of New Affordable Housing was a the Trick Bag.
REMOVING all the Crime from OTR first was the objective, and removing the people from WE was the next. Once this was enacted, it would open the way for reconstruction and having NEW Condos and Housing for the Corp. Stars and Families.
This was all started before Year 2000, but a few thing got side tracked and it did not go just as planned. Gov. Money did not come as planned, and moving the people took a lot longer than planned.
They had to give the appearance that thing were going as planned and a lot of minor drug arrest and other arrest show progress.
Major bust were happening too, but to Drug Dealler the LE already new about and were just waiting for the right NEWs time to bust them.
The Riots were a big Monkey Wrench in the plans, but things still moved onwards. The War has pulled a whole lot of Money from the deal, but Corporate still wants things build. Now the Top of this whole deal is the Banks Project and competing with NKy. People will not come from the Burbs to Downtown (Arnoff, Music Hall, Playhouse, etc. , ) if they think Downtown is unsafe. So they need all the small arrest to get folks off the street or massed into certain areas of easier control. Knowing the BANKS is about to start, Corporate Money will be released to be used especially from Western Southern, and they P & G, Kroger, Duke, CinBell, many Big Legal Firms, and others want to turn Downtown Cincy back into an AfterWork Playground, and Weekend place to go. Very liitle CRIME can be there if this is to happen.
SO TO DO THIS. It is Full Speed ahead and "CHARGE"! Uncle Simon will keep the Jails Full and over crowed, and the State money to house inmates will keep his people and politics working.
A lot is going on under the radar. Many people got kicked out of there housing when their Leases were reviewed, and they had anyone with a criminal record living or use to live with them. OUT TO THE BURBS WITH YA! Move out the people and you move out the crime, and the Corp Stars moving in can fill SAFE.
Please understand this is all written in a quick nut shell. It would get too boring, like it ain't already if I wrote everything.
As for going after CL and CityBeat girls advertising, that is what Uncle Simon is all about. He went after Maplethorp, Larry Flyntt, Too Live Crew, and other Rapper Groups, Sex Shop, Book Stores, Movie Theater, then why NOT the CL and CB. That is how Uncle Simon keeps his job. If you get a chance go to some of the Town Hall, Neighbor Meetings, and just take a listen to what is going on. You can get an EXCELLENT IDEA, of how the area is going and what to look out for.
I go to them myself, and I have been since the early 90's. Corporation often send Rep's to these Community Meeting/Forums, sometimes just to listen and take notes, other times give there positions on Community matters.
That always include Crime, Housing, Police, and a lot more. Going to a meeting you will hear times in which SW and Drug activity is Highest and Lowest. I have even seen some of the area SW's at the meetings just listening. That is being smart on their part. Still it is rare to see them there, Very Rare?
Better Yet !!! Find Know someone who goes to them and can tell you about what is going on. It really is a wealth of Good Information. By posting this I may have let the "Cat Out Of The Bag." I hope NOT, but it is something to consider, because times are very SW slow, and I don't see it getting better, unless we have a very Warm Winter.
People be very cautious in attending these meetings, because, new people really stand out, and only a hand full of people attend these functions. So you will be "noticed. "

Back In Town and Burned Already
I been up in NY where the girls are plentiful and *friendly*.
Went thru Covington today and saw a 30's WSW on Madison. She was about 5-3, slim with long dark hair and a red jacket, said her name was Alice. She got in the car and we agreed to drive to a spot that she knew. We get to the spot and she starts in and keeps stopping and looking up. Finally she says she sees someone coming and we have to leave and find another spot. She then says she has to make a stop and will be right out. At that point I know I'm burned. She hopped out with my .20 and left me hung out to dry.
Anyone have any good tips on providers in this area? I'm willing to pay the extra price to get decent service.
Alert !! Possible Undercover
Friday night I went cruising in OTR and there were very little LE in the area but also next to none for SWs. Did see a blonde SWs on Elm between Henry and McMicken but had to circle around down Race St. to go back. She was wearing a skirt and had hair pass her shoulders. It was dark and I almost missed seeing her but there were a couple of other cars going for her. I did see a truck coming up the small alley behind "Doug's Tires" shop to catch her at the lot behind the tire shop.
While I did drive around back from Race St. to see if she was there I noticed at the Church parking lot was a car parked where LE usually hangs out to watch at Race and McMicken. The car was a sliver SUV with a single woman driving. When I passed her car she turned on her head lights and the inside lights came on as well. She started to drive toward Elm St.
The blonde SW was gone but I drove on to Mohawk and Central and saw the woman in the sliver SUV again but didn't give it that much attention and left the area.
Saturday night about 10p I saw the same sliver SUV at the church parking lot by Race St. and a regular Cincy cruiser next to the sliver SUV! It looked they were talking to each other while sitting in their vehicles. I couldn't get a good look to see if it was the same woman or who was in the car but the car was the same from the night before.
I'm thinking that woman in the sliver SUV may be undercover. My spider senses were tingling. I thought some more about what I saw from friday night. When I passed the woman the first time I noticed she was watching the area toward Elm St. It was like she saw something and was going to follow the cars behind me that turned to the blonde SW. This was Friday night.
Saturday like I said the same car and LE together and I saw the blonde SW again but clearly on Elm. She had long hair pass her shoulders and the hair was teased to look puffy and full. You can't miss her. This time she was with a black guy and another small dark hair girl. I drove pass them and was going to circle back.
Spider senses were tingling when I saw LE at the church parking lot with that sliver SUV again. So I left the area and didn't go back to Elm St.
Saturday night had a lot of LE in OTR. There were cruisers at the Shell station and across the street at the empty parking lot on Liberty St. Also Sheriffs cruisers at Walnut and McMicken corner, Vine and McMicken and all the regular spots where SWs and dealers hang out except there was no one out.
Keep your eyes out on for that SUV in the area. I wished I've had followed her that Friday night to learn more about what she was doing.

Jimbo 211: You know your mistakes...?
I see three right away...
1) NEVER front the $. MAYBE a token of your good faith, but not enough to give her satisfaction with "cash and dash."
2) Be VERY leary of "her place." If fact, you are lucky that the "someone" coming up was not her dude with a weapon to releave you of the rest of your wallet... Never go to "her place" unless you have gotten to know and trust her.
3) Never let them get out "to be right back..." Your experience already reviews that lesson for us. Say "No (firmly, with conviction), we'll go to another more isolated place." Keep control of the situation.
As per other posts, not only are functional digits hard to come by, but stings are apparently on the increase. Look though my previous posts for my 13 rules of Mongering 101 for steps for satisfactory mongering. The lessons reviewed her are there as well as other important lessons...

Can Jackson Put The #13 Rule In The Home Section ???
Is it possible that "Jackson" can put the #13 Rules in the Home Section to make the Universal to everyone interested.
In this way, you don't have to look them up in the archives to read them.
Posting them about every 3-4 months is a good idea, because this site picks up a lot of newbies every month.
But a permanent place for them in the Forum is much better.
Of course they will have to be cleaned up, to make them universal to every forum, but the "real" message will be the same.
ALSO ADD A #14th rule. Never ask for SEX right out. Ask her if she want to got someplace and take some, 'Nude Modeling Pictures".
Decoys will always say "No" to that and they can't arrest you because you made not offer for Sex, for Money.
Once the checks are done, you are feeling comfortable, and at "Your Spot", then you can talk details.
The Rules are really for Newbies or for Folks that just don't get it.
There are a lot of them, because I still see drivers talking through the window all the time, before the girls gets in to the car.
And folks are still getting ripped off for money.

Thanks Dweezil--you da man! And Mr. Boomer is absolutely correct about all of us being burned at some time and another in this hobby. The lessons which taught me these 13 rules were not out of a book... I SHOULD write a book about the amazing adventures of this hobby. Especially amazing are the chances I have taken, with fortunately no serious physical or even robbery harm. But ripped off--yes--but not in the recent past.
Someone said the reason we see no SWs on the street is that they are all in jail. I can't believe that is the only reason. It is true that the hobby is at low tide at the moment, and with winter's icy fingers, the girls will be even harder to find on the street. Cultivate those digits and trustworthy providers.

And yes, if I do NOT urge that no mention of any sex act be made until all relevant checks have been made, it SHOULD be in there. Real risk and inter-SW jealosy...
Getnati brings up a couple of important issues.
HIV:
HIV is, and should be, of OBVIOUS major concern for mongers. This is why we ALWAYS use cover for FS. And we call other mongers on the carpet when they don't use FS cover because they are putting us all at risk, not just their dumb asses...
Oral transmission of HIV is extremely rare (if ever). So we may be willing to risk that pleasure with minimal risk of the "death penalty."
On the other hand, my caution is to avoid ANY providers who may be injecting drugs. VERY high risk. Look for "tracks" (bruises at their inside elbows), slow movement and slurred speech without obvious smell of liquor, nodding off, etc. These are MAJOR warning signs. In my opinion, getting off is not worth that risk. Furthermore, girls whom we have trusted in the past can easily go down the injection street. For instance, Rachel was a wonderful provider, but has apparently now succumbed to near terminal AIDS (in incarceration).
Inter-SW jealousy:
This can be potent beyond belief. SW social conventions can be beautifully supportive, caring and sharing. ON the other hand... I have heard SWs SO angry that I feared life-threatening violence. It is a different society you are dabbling in. Tread carefully, understand that critical words from one SW about another SW will unavoidably be tinged with prejudice at the very least. But I would take ANY mention of HIV seriously.
