" Swigert died of thermal exposure and inhalation injury ". It sure sounds to me like they set her on fire and left her to die a slow agonizing death.

While locked up together Matilda told GiGi that she was trying to get away from her handlers and that they had threatened to kill her if she tried to leave again. . Matilda had asked to stay in jail longer because she had nowhere to go and was afraid for her life. Less than 48 hrs after her release from jail she was set on fire and left to die. And her handlers have been charged with the crime.

I want to thank everyone for this info. I had gotten to know Matilda on a personal level and was trying to get her to get help and get in a residential rehab. She told me " It's not that easy ". Now I know what she was going through and what she meant. She was a sweet girl who made mistakes that kept adding up to the point she told me there was no way out. I can only hope that somehow her murderers will come to know the pain and horror she felt in her last moments of life.

Luckily I never met her but was supposed to and something came up. There was no indication that she was underage. I've been meticulous about verifying that I'm talking to an adult now and if the girl refuses to prove it then I assume she's a minor and move on.

Until we get away from rating prosecutors on a win-loss record for promotions, etc. , we truly won't have justice in this country.

I've known women in their over 30 with braces. My question is, what responsibility does SA bear in keeping underage people off their site? One would assume that they'd take better measures to insure that underage girls are kept off their site, just to protect their business.

The guy accused appears to have been rather careless while operating in the gray (I'm not trying to start an argument about what the laws should be). The few articles out there alludes to there being an ongoing investigation as it mentioned there were other minors involved and that he shared the girls with other guys. Sex trafficking charge. Maybe it ends with this guy, but these things can also snowball quickly. Now his photo is in the news. Do more possible victims come forward? How many of this guy's friends are being looked at by the police? How many treads to the policy care to follow? How many threads do the media choose to follow?

As for the braces, yes people of all ages do get them, but culturally there is a well established association between teens and braces and that becomes a small part of a larger narrative. The fact of the matter is, legally it doesn't matter how old the girls looked, but if the girls true did look under 18 it's just a slam dunk.
