They are less likely to break, can't fall off, etc. Providers probably don't use them often because some men might not like the visual as much, and because female condoms are more expensive than typical condoms. So I suggest asking providers upfront if they will use a female condom if YOU provide them. I think you'll get a positive response. I've never used one, so please report back about your experience. It would be helpful to us all.

This is just my two cents. Most of us females will not use a female condom,

(1) The outer ring or frame is visible outside the vagina, which can make some women feel self-conscious.

(2) The FC and FC2 female condoms can make noises during intercourse (adding more lubricant can lessen this problem).

Some women find the female condom hard to insert and to remove.

(3) It has a higher failure rate in preventing pregnancy than non-barrier methods such as the pill.

(4 )It is relatively expensive and relatively limited in availability in some countries.
