Was sore on Sunday morning after working in the yard all day Saturday, but Sunday morning the usual places seemed to be closed (or opening later than their posted hours).
Since what I really wanted was the massage (happy ending not required) I figured I try this place again (I tried it many years ago, and no extras). They claim to open at 9 am, and the sign out front sald $50 for 60 minutes. (So I figured at least I'd save some money).
Walked in and there was a rather elderly woman and maybe her mother (just kidding, but both were up there in years). I wasn't sure if that was it or if I would be delightfully surprised with a younger and / or more attractive masseuse, but I was already there and my time was tight, so time to take one for the team. I asked for a 60 min massage and one of them led me to a room, told me to get undressed and lie on the table, and by the way the price is $60, not $50. Oh well, I'm not going to walk out for $10. But no money was collected up front.
And. I got a fairly decent massage. Not the best I've ever had but not horrible either. Was all back, neck, and legs. There was some very light teasing on the upper inner thigh, and that's it. No flip, no forehead massage. Nothing on the front. It did last an hour.
She then left and waited up front, while I got dressed and made my way up. Both women were waiting up front (I think the one who gave me the massage was the older and more heavy set one). Handed her $100, which she handed to the other one, who handed her back the $40 change. While the massage wasn't worth the $40 tip, I told her to keep it anyhow (she immediately stuffed it in her pocket), and walked out.
So if you have visited this place in the past, and wondered if it had changed. No, no it has not. Also, fwiw, it doesn't really have proper rooms with real walls. The rooms appear to be made up of wood and paper divider panels. So noise carries.
Have gone to this place a few time over the years. Recently Lucy worked on me. She is definitely older but the TS was nice and the massage was decent, 7 for the hour which was the full hour. Towards the end she started with the ST and got the job done. . 7 + . 4 tip which she didn't argue with. Would go back but are there any other spots in that area that I should look into?

I wanted to try another AMP and went to Li Massage, older lady, chineese maybe in mid 40's.
Massage was fine, not great, on the flip roaming over cloths allowed, HJ, I did not see any hits on extra's.
$60 house + $50 tip.

Good job being punctual. It's helpful with Eastern cultures. There are some other tips for being a good customer at a massage parlor, forgive me for not linking them here. Use the search feature and read them, they will help you continue to have an enjoyable time no matter where you may choose to patronize.
You paid a bit more than market. Lately, in the suburbs, we've been experiencing ongoing inflation in rates. What used to be a pretty reliable $60 house fee and $100 tip has now gone up as high as $70/$160 in some establishments. Everything is going up and it's not unreasonable for these businesses to raise prices commensurate with how the rest of the economy is moving.
But things have been calming down lately in the economy and the general consensus amongst us customers is that prices are already above where they should be and could stand to come down a notch or two.
Some people will allude to your willingness to pay the rates you reported as "being part of the problem" and that's not what I'm saying here. Just that with some more research, due diligence and willingness to walk if they won't come down in price you can stretch your personal dollars further by paying a bit less in future sessions.
Some tips:
1. [B]Do everything you can to let the therapist make the first offer for services you suggest.[/B] At many places, with many therapists, your first offer is going to be seen as a floor and they're going to try to negotiate you up from there. Starting with an offer that's above market (market is between $130 and $140 in the suburbs for those services) will further identify you as a relative novice and someone who can be pushed to pay a bit more than the more seasoned customer.
2. [B]What you are willing to pay the first time is going to set your personal floor with that therapist in that spa[/B] as they are likely to remember what you were willing to pay the last time. It doesn't mean you can't offer less or be a tougher negotiator next time, but therapists are people also and they're going to be reluctant to take less for the same service the second time around.
3. [B]Bring exact change[/B]. Separate the house fee from what you are willing to pay for additional services in two different pockets and put a small number of additional small bills into a third pocket in case you can't successfully negotiate your desired rate and you still want to buy the services.

Also, thanks for identifying the market rates, I've been reading through these posts very diligently and it seems the numbers are all over the place. I'm definitely getting more comfortable is discussing the rate with the therapist and not willing to be so eager to just pay whatever. Hell, the first time I think I would have gone to the ATM (automated teller machine just to be clear) if she asked for more.
