2. If there is a cop in the parking lot, don't speed out of the parking lot through an "entrance only" lane.

There is always a chance for some bad luck, but if this guy kept his cool and just drove away normally, the cop might have left him alone.

Believing the female may have been a minor who was involved in human trafficking, the officer decided to investigate".

It's more the disparity of age for both exiting a motel that raised suspicion. If it occurred elsewhere, a mall for example, no one would question that as she could be a niece or granddaughter.

It might have helped if they exited the motel separately.

But we all know LEO can arrest you for just about anything and let the courts work it out later after your name is published in the paper.
