Royal is open! And a reverie.....
Taking my lunchtime walk, I saw a guy ring up 520 10th, wait and go in. What is this? I go back to the office, Google the number, ring them up and ask-- Mama says "Every day ten A.M open." I may TOFFT next week.
Maybe everyone but me knew this, I don't know, I thought it was closed.
Now the reverie, when I came to DC twenty years ago, Royal was already old and grimy, it has only improved with age. Where it is, if ever the Smithsonian evolved, and set up a DC AMP Museum, where else but here? Across the street from Lincoln's assasination, blocks from the rest of the museums, why not a DC AMP Museum?
I would gladly give my decades of experience and become a docent. I can see it now,
"Ladies and Gents, this is the Cooking Mom room. Smell that? Kim Chi soup and rice. See how the smell permeates every square inch? Plus your clothes? Explain THAT to your wife."
"Here is our lube rack. See the bottles, masking tape with names on them? There they are, a hall of fame of names--Mimi, Tammy, Noela (?), and Cookie (great inplants!)."
"We are having a contest. How many cheap condoms in the five gallon clear plastic bag? Winner gets a hundred dollar tip."
Ah memories. Uh oh, no more wine for the Gingrer Man.
