Just wanted to say the Martinsville boys basketball coach must've had a heck of a week. Caught Sunday by IMPD at an Indy park in his car with no clothes on and a 17-year-old chick sitting next to him. It's been all over the news and I can't hook up a link from this laptop for some reason. I'm not putting his name on here because that's against the rule (at this point I don't think he would care, hahahahaha). Just google Martinsville boys basketball coach.

There is something hinky going on there, for sure. Consider that a week before the media was screaming about teenaged prostitution, and here a 17-year-old girl disappears from the story immediately. And that's not to mention the teacher angle; that and the prurience alone should have kept the story alive for a week.
Which is not to say that news stories are the last word in accuracy, and a prosecutor may take a while before filing additional charges. But if the arresting officer saw genital contact it's unlikely the girl would have been released on the spot. Under the circumstances she probably should have been detained for her own protection, if nothing else, until there was some plausible explanation for her beau being an AARP-member. Makes me wonder what he did see. (If having your pants unzipped is a crime, half the 65-year-old men in the city could be locked up.) I'd hope, at least, that he was unaware the guy was a coach / teacher when he let a school-aged minor get in her car and drive off.
ISP has been called in to investigate Martinsville schools handling of the earlier rumors about the guy.
I'm thinking she was a SW because he came into Indy from a different town. The whole thing is kinda sad as far as basketball is concerned. He was one of the better boys basketball coaches in the state and his team is like 17-2. And in this state, basketball is everything. A lot of kids, and parents, looked up to him and he let them down. But things aren't all bad. A former NBA player has been hired as his temporary replacement.

And I don't think the question is people's illusions-sounds like people in Martinsville are pretty pissed off-but the school administration's due diligence when it "couldn't find any evidence" to back up the rumors. They needed evidence to terminate his employment, but they didn't need any to pull him into a private meeting and tell him his balls would be hanging from the gym rafters if there was the slightest truth to the rumors, in which case he ought to resign immediately. Like so many small-town mandarins, they opted to cover up instead.
It's wrong, morally, ethically, and legally, whether he was employed by her school or she employed by him. If he'd gone about it openly and honestly, like the rest of us, I'd feel sorry for him.
