Once you walk thru the creaky metal gates into Mexico there's atleast 20 cabs there waiting to bring where ever you want. I recommend Adalitas, others say Hong Kong. Go to both. Beware of the cab drivers. There are clubs that will pay the cab drivers to bring you to said club. So if you ask the cabbie "bring me to Hong Kong" his response might be and probably will be "they are closed" or "I know a better place" just tell them no thank you, I give them a 20 right after I tell them no thank you. I also recommend bringing your I'd and cash only. No wallet, no anything. I put a 100 under each or my inserts in my sneakers. And about 200 in my pocket. I haven't Been in about 10 years but I've been plenty of times. That's how I do it. I would never stay the night in TJ. I met a dancer in one of the clubs, we had a few wild times together. Against my better judgement (I was also 26 years old) we went to the Baja 500 in Ensenada mx. Ita about 2 hours from TJ. We stayed at the best hotel / resort in the city. This was only after visiting her 3 times, going to her house (only during the day) and really trusting her that she wasn't setting me up. Believe it I was nervous as fuck. But it was also one of the best trips of my life. They close down a part of the town where the race starts and its a 3 days party. I had gone to see her about 2 more. Times after that trip I believe (she didn't take money I did pay for everything) but she loved me. If she didn't have a daughter I probably would of done whatever it takes to get her back to massachusetts. I'd love to go back but I have a girl here that I care about to not Even want to be with anyone else. I stay in San Diego and cross on foot. Parking usually $20 at most near the Jack In the Box by San Ysidro crossing. Cross on foot (best if you have global entry or Sentri as there is zero wait most of the time). If not, consider crossing at Otay Mesa. Longer cab ride, but much shorter lines.

Once there, go to any of the big 3 clubs. Let's face it, they are essentially brothels. Hong Kong will make your head spin and it is like they have a few for every type imaginable. You can have as much fun as you want or as little. I always start at HK and knock the first one out quick. Round 2 I look for a treat. Occasionally round 3, I will choose a street girl (they are hot as well and usually 1/3 HK prices, only issue is the hotels are shit.

I go down 3+ time a year, usually on a Saturday or Sunday and stay an extra day for fun. Most of the time, I can blow through $1 K just on girls per trip west, but that is for 8+ sessions.

I NEVER rented a car in San Diego, though, I did not see the reason for it, given that public transport down to San Ysidro is cheap, fast and easy. I don't know how it is now, but in those days it took HOURS and HOURS to get back to the USA across the border, so I always stayed at a 4 star hotel in Mexico, right on the border, rather than waiting all that time every day in border crossings or worrying about parking. That hotel was called "Amigo" something or other, I can't recall the whole name, but a taxi ride from there to Zona Norte where the action is, cost only $5 US. (Nobody wants Pesos there!) Walking from the border to Zona Norte was EXTREMELY DANGEROUS at night, when the clubs were opened. I suspect its even more dangerous, now! I recommend a TAXI! The other bars are all within a block or two, and once in the Zona itelf, its quite safe to walk. So no need to worry about a taxi driver taking you to another place for his cut, LOL! Don't forget to sample the great street tacos in the Zona, available all night long, for $1 each!

Hong Kong Bar was indeed the place to be, then. I pulled the three chicas in the pictures below from there, for about $100 each. Driving in TJ is not something I suggest you do. I would either stay somewhere reasonable in SD, or one of the nicer places in TJ (like Hotel Pueblo Amigo Plaza Casino). Note that sometimes the walking line back to US is closed, or just a huge line, so you could be waiting for hours to get back.

If you stay in SD, the border parking lots are right there, or you can take the trolley down to the border. From the MX side, the cabs are only $5 to Zone Norte; take them from the line, not a random one. They may drop you off at either HK or Adelitas, as they can be incentivized by the club to do so, but you don't need to go into that club at that time if you don't want. Or HK may still have the limo at the border for "free" (I'd tip the driver $5 anyway). Check out [URL]hktijuana.com[/URL] for whatever they have. The area immediately around it is rather safe, as long as you're not an idiot. It's still a city. I've walked to and from the border and never had an issue. Be careful.

If you're going to Zona Norte, you will be fine during daytime and early evenings. Never have had an issue at all. And literally talking 50+ trips down. You hear stories of these "atrocities", but rarely see anything more than a fist fight between a couple drunk a-holes. You hear stories of corrupt police shakedowns. Never have seen one. I am sure if you're dumb enough to roll into Mexico with US plates, you might as well put a bullseye on your back to have cops fuck with you. Easy mark is what it is called. They pull you, make up BS claims and want cash to not bring you in front of the judge. Obviously, most US guys would shit themselves with that. Here's an obvious hint, don't drive! Problem solved.

Honestly, the Mexican national guard patrols the streets in Zona Norte. Very common to see military vehicles there with guns everywhere. They are aware the cartels are there, but they stay away when the feds are patrolling. Last fall, the cartels set shot on fire (buses, vehicles, etc) and ZERO civilians were killed. They aren't the targets.

Obviously, being smart also is important, don't go wandering off down random alleys. Stay near the main area up to the arch area and you will be fine.

Cabs may still drive through there all the time (they changed the routes several times in the 12 years I was going), and I was always fine in the cabs.
