Thanks[/QUOTE]You are screwed on that. It will not matter what type of browser you are using. It's all about the IP address. They will monitor the activity coming through that IP address. Even if you were able to put something on your system that would allow encryption and go through one of those website that hide / change your IP address, it would raise a red flag and they would dig deep to at least see what's going on. You are going to have to find another place to surf besides home. Getting your own private laptop at home won't even help.

Thanks[/QUOTE]She may be on to you; they do not ask to monitor your Internet traffic for a TS or even deeper checks. Is she going to need a Polygraph? If not they will look at criminal history, banking and other money (for unexplained wealth) issues, interview people that work and know her (not you).

They are more concerned about her then you unless you are a foreign national, have a criminal history, or have been I'd'ed as chemical dependant. In short they are looking for something that would show that she may be a spy or could be turned into one via blackmail or money.

Personally, I'd go to a public library and see if I could access a free proxy server. Then I'd browse thru the proxy.

I was in the USAF for 4 years, then accepted a position with DoD. Between both, I had a total of 30 years of service. During these 30 years, I carried a TS clearance for 29 1/2 years. My work station computer, whether I was in country or out of country, or any paper work that my name was attached to (back before technology improved our mission) was always closely monitored, and we were subject to random polygraphs. As far as there being a program to monitor your own personal PC or laptop, I have never heard of one. But, that does not mean that whoever is conducting the background check cannot find out the IP address of any computer used in your home or your office. They have that right to check everything out, and that goes for any member of your family.

Will they go that far to do a BC? Probably not, unless they think that you're a terrorist. It also depends on who's conducting the check. The average background check performed by the FBI runs around $50k to $100k. I'm not sure what a private company charges, but I also don't think that a private company will dig as deep as the FBI.

That being said, since 9/11 the government seems to have free reign to do whatever they feel like doing. For a while, NSA was conducting warrantless wiretaps, and were authorized to listen to any phone call that they felt like listening to.

I used to go to a hot German blonde girl with a huge set of beautiful bolt ons. She would smash them right in your face when she shampooed your hair. It was awesome. With different clearances you are required to submit to different levels of invasion of your privacy. Most likely they will only monitor your internet activity if there is suspicion at some point. They will have to go through your ISP and many will not cooperate unless they have your prior authorization. Once she gives the authorization, from that point on most ISPs will cooperate and turn over whatever data. To answer one question below they tell you about monitoring ahead of time for a few reasons, they want to know that your reaction is that your ok with this and they also want you to know they may be watching for future reference.

Someone else was correct in that it does not matter what browser you use, that only can protect your browsing history on your local machine, if they have the IP address at any point in time, they can see if you've visited any sites that they are concerned with like Wiki Leaks. I do think that going through a third party engine that hides your IP would work in stopping them from knowing where you've been, but also as someone else said going to that level of effort to hide your activity would raise a flag.

Your best bet is to use a laptop on someone elses wifi account. Depending on where you live you may be able to surf off of someone elses wifi or park outside a starbucks, or Barnes & Noble, or somewhere else with open free to the public wifi. I do that often with an ipod touch. It works well so long as you don't mind a small screen.

Mr. Tracy from your experience if this is just a TS and not TS SEI, can I expect that it could be monitored and if so do they pull your history records (which WTF I'm screwed no mater what) or they do a network tap with new activity?

My believe is ISP's can't afford the space to collect, process, store and retrieve the history for all their customers and only perform this service as requested by big brother.

Each ISP has their own policy on how long they store data before overwriting it. I really don't think they care much if you've visited porn sites or USASEXGUIDE in the past or future. They are more concerned with certain foreign sites, wiki leaks, etc.
