However, doesn't having a child cause even greater financial difficulties? How will they handle the child's financial upbringing if they quit?

Chances are if you knock one of them up you'll never, ever hear about it and probably won't ever see the girl again. They only need to name the father if they seek out state aid (and I think that depends on the state) or try to take you to court for child support. It also will be hard for them to identify you without the whole story of how this happened coming out in court and they have a pretty strong incentive not to do that.
