If your VPN was working then they're identifying you some other way. Try running your browser in private or incognito mode, or if not, clearing your cookies. They might be flagging you that way.

New to the sugar scene and checking it out. Have look at these two profiles using nearly the same phrases. Are these two friends, or working off of some profile-building guide? Is this sort of things typical?

It's much harder for websites to detect you are running a VPN if you are running TCP through an obfuscated server. I know NORD supports this.
