I couldn't have said it better
It's been my experience trying to set something up with a provider over an hour or two in advance is a complete waste of time unless your a regular and even that's a very iffy proposition. All these women have scheduling issues. I've always found it's best to try setting something up with in a hour. Look, their pretty much running a drive through business and typically it's first come first serve. They are not going to pass up a guy standing at their door with cash in hand over a possibility of a no show. Your chances increase if they've seen you before but even then they have a hard time not taking the first guy that shows up, it's just their nature, a dick in the hand is better than two in the Bush. There are exceptions to the rule but one must always expect the possibility of getting bumped for another customer. It's happened to me more times than I can count and fully expect it to happen again. I know this plays havoc with our own schedules, lets face it, we have jobs and SOs to deal with but it doesn't change the fact when it comes to getting providers to stick to a precise time table you might as well try herding cats for a living. JD.
Which is why I thought it was ludicrous.
Nor are Providers indifferent.

Like us, they're not indifferent to who they see. Sometimes things "click" sometimes they don't.
J4 me.
