Having worked in a few restaurants in the past, The Back of House (BoH) getting tipped out really depends on the business, same with hostesses getting tips. It really depends on the business. Some places tip them out some don't. Next, depending on the business waitress / servers generally have sections they are assigned to for the shift. The host / hostess job is to try to evenly seat customers by rotation to evenly spread them out give servers an equal opportunity to serve customers / and getting tips.

With that said just ask at the hostess at the beginning who's working / available. Calling ahead doesn't hurt to see who's there that day or more so if they are busy or dead. As for the tip I'd agree with the sentiment of 10% if it's terrible or even going rate and just make sure to get a different person next time. You don't want them thinking you are a shit customer or spreading bad rumors about you in the future if it's a place you visit somewhat often. Also, they could have an even worse attitude for the next customer.

What about when service is bad? I don't mean like Ryan Leaf, running up a $150 bar tab, and leaving a $3 tip, just to be a jerk. I went to have some food, and there was one dish that I ordered, and when the table next to me ordered it later, I heard that it was sold out. No problem, I understand. Well, if you have a relationship with the night manager it could be worth having a non-confrontational word about it. Something like "Say, I was here the other night and I was a bit astonished as usually the service I get here is great" Then provide the story. Be humble and offer an out such as "I guess it was probably really busy" or something like that. The manager should know enough to handle the situation gracefully.

Just wasn't worth it in my opinion to pursue. When the marriage started going seriously sideways I did discreetly start taking it up again, but didn't really establish a pattern until after the divorce. I should say that over about six months my soon-to-be-ex was accusing me of cheating every couple of days, and had hired a PI to check me out. During that time I was keeping it in my pants and there was no cheating and the PI found fuck all. After that we had a HUGE blowup, and in the aftermath mutually agreed that "we should take a break from each other and clear our heads. " I put her on a plane at SeaTac and called a divorce lawyer and two weeks later served her with divorce papers.

Honestly after the psycho shite that ***** put me through I questioned whether I wanted to ever fuck again.

The media loves to portray us as horrible people, but it's a whole different story when you've been taking care of a spouse who has cancer, multiple sclerosis, etc. She admits to feeling bad about not being able to take care of your needs too, or maybe doesn't have the capacity to, and the caregiver stress takes its toll.

I was focused on my career choices as early as high school. Never had time for a legitimate relationship. Same thru college, started my career on the fast track and did well. Women were easy pickings at that point. Could've had many. Fell for one. That lasted until I had issues with career-based depression and not handling it well. Turned to distractions. Drugs, alcohol, toxic friends. Ended in divorce. No kids luckily.

Came out of my funk with support of a good friend, platonic, turned romantic. Dream 2. 0. Married, had children. She got diag'd with breast cancer back before it was relatively easily treated. She passed. Still miss her.

Had plenty of chances for side action but never felt the urge to cheat. When not in a relationship I was a bit of a man *****. Still am, went thru a midlife crisis and currently in a 3/4 life crisis. Too many scammers and pros in disguise, and most of them flat out wanted too much. Tinder seems to work fairly well for hook ups and I found that giving a little coin here and there to the younger gals who have a daddy fetish works wonders—they more often than not share me with a friend.
