I did contact via email, the "help" people. I got a nice reply note with a telephone number to call so that an agent could try an alternative processing method. Sure Secure Spend has no place to enter Monger info, which is a good thing, but not really needed for this transaction.
So now I am reporting that I did indeed call the provided number on my burner phone (woulda used GV, but that's another story! It was a NV area code and of course I got transferred to some agent with a heavy accent (Asian?) Anyway, other than some difficulty in hearing the Agent for a while, the process was smooth. Identified my account by registered email address and Site Moniker, then gave the details of the card: Card #, expiration, security code. In a few minutes the SecureSpend card went though!
So my advice to others that hit a snag while trying the online process, is to go old school and get on the phone and get the card to go through. It is in SA's best interest to collect the money, so they are going to do that, it just took an extra step.
Oh and well over a month later, I was able to use the discount code provided on this thread for a 33% discount!
