So, I am traveling. I am in North Carolina working the ACC basketball tournament. I reached out to the local board for intel with not much results. They aren't very busy and don't seem to support each other like we do.
In fact, I just had a wonderful date with young cheerleader type that reminds me so much of Jane, the cheerleader in high school that wouldn't give me the time of day. I wish I could say I found her through a brother but I had to find her the old fashioned way. In fact, the board up here had a bad review of her that was a couple of years old and nothing ever since. Calling all IT and Tech Savvy Mongers. In an effort to eliminate my digital footprint as much as possible I am reaching out to the forums broad wealth of knowledge. I would like to make my browsing as covert as possible. I am not so much concerned about what someone could find if they had my computer (though I am open to suggestions) as I am about what a PI or similar could trace. This goes for my android smart phone with ATnT as a carrier as well. I am all ears and open to suggestions. I have no doubt other forum members will benefit from this information.

The only way you can completely eliminate your ability to be traced is to destroy every electronic device you own by burning it at 3000 degrees F or throw it all in a volcano (including your car).
Otherwise,
1. you can turn off your browsers ability to store cookies, history and reduce the cache to 0 bytes to be kept. Both phone and computer.
2. Remove the battery from you phone anytime you do not want to be followed.
3. Do not use a GPS when driving.
4. erase all your history and cookies from your browser.
That still leaves them residual information (deleted but still a little trace there that can be used to get it all back) to trace in your phone and computer, tablet etc., On your computer, find and install microsoft sdelete and run and sdelete on your hard drive with multiple passes and patterns. Do this EVERY day. I do not have an answer for your phone. A PI can also install a tracker on your car, so you need to check it over every time you get in it. They stick to metal so look all under your car. Now if your trying to avoid fed. Uncle sam, forget it, they have technology you can not hide from. PI's can also put software on your phone that relays everything you do on the phone to them, including your calls, then can listen in, your texts, your browsing, etc all in real time. Feel insecure yet? There's more. Your GPS has a signal that is traceable. Your car, if newer can store GPS data of where it's been and if your under 30, you may have been chipped by our federalies. Feeling like your privacy rights are destroyed yet? There's even more.. Every time you use a credit card it is traceable in the most curious way. Also your internet provider logs every site you visit. The bottom line is that you really can't prevent someone from finding you out, so the best way is to not do anything you can be caught at.
You might try having a burner computer used only in public wifi that you are not related to, burner phone and a pre 1980 car. Keep the phone and computer in a bank safe deposit box because signal can't get out of them there.

Since Vino vouched for me the other day I will do a solid and vouch for Carlos. He is without a doubt correct. This is the best way to avoid any footprint that could be tracable. I usually run my linux off of a CD rather than a USB, usually labeled mix tape for old times sake. This way a simple snap of the disc and there is nothing there any longer.

Additionally, you could also buy a prepaid phone and browse with that. This would keep you activities off your real life internet connection / pc.

Problem with this method is the tabletpc / phone can not be on you 24-7-365 where the drive you can.
All it takes is one program installed, they are available for all operating systems.
The other benafit with usb linux is you can set it up to not take any more programs.
Pre paid hotspots, there is a trail. They keep all reocrds for 3 years.

Isn't there a way to create a random IP address and browse through that? It's unrealistic for me to say that I'll only monger from outside the home. The prepaid mobile hotspot sounds interesting but not ideal. I assume that I'll have to register the thing. If not and data is being saved against an account that I'm not associated with, why would I care?

Google spoof IP address it can be done but it blocks you from secure sites, and runs very slow if I remember correctly.

Any one can get your browsing using wireshark and etherape, there are more but thoes are the 2 main ones.
The only way to keep you browsing a secret is to hack the neighbors wifi -- do not recommend.
Better way to pay 15 a month for there wifi.
The only other way is to put another gateway before the router and hope th other person does not relize this.

I have been using DateCheck since June of 2004, which I know has afforded many of the providers here since then, with information about me, which I do not hesitate to let them know about my listing.
