Check your own Monger Phone number
That website is both scary AND a life saver. I typed in my #, and everything came up on me except for my blood type, favorite food, and favorite film from 1986.
Thanks for this info. I checked my personal cell phone and my Google Voice "Batphone" number -- which was connected to a Google account / email that was ONLY used for this part of my life. Shockingly, they had completely INCORRECT info on my personal cell number (yay!) BUT, full and accurate info on me connected to my monger number. W. T. F. I have no idea how that happened. I no longer trust Google Voice. If you're using GV, consider checking your number.

And I'm not an inexperienced guy, been at this hobby off and on for more than 20 years. Generally my street smarts and spidey senses are pretty up to par, and I don't tend to think with my small head. This year is the first time this sort of thing has happened to me. First time I ran into a group of two (surprise) guys and a woman at the mill apartments near Pine Street in Manchester. Second was a single girl who took the money once I was in her apt and bolted out the door, drove away in her car, actually leaving me in her place.
I admit in hindsight there were some signs about the first one, I should have seen that one coming. (off my game that day I guess) but the second one was out of the blue. Both in Manchester, though, and both from Craigslist connections. The more I read, I'm seeing that Manchester is a big problem area for us.
In general it seems like with the crackdown on Backpage (now that no one can post a real "ad" anymore), and Craigslist recently having very few w4 m posts (almost all of them getting removed very quickly), there are few legit offers in both places, and a lot more people running scams. Now, of course, CL is gone, CV is gone, BP is fairly useless, so the scammers are branching out to the few remaining advertising venues.
I haven't hobbied in 5 or 6 months, and may not go back to it. Too much work, too much risk (physically, financially, STD-wise), for generally a lackluster experience.
I'd love to find a cute, honest, affordable young woman for repeat business. I fear the recent changes and crackdowns will drive rates up, though. Supply and demand and all that.
