Can't get lucky all the time
I had an "almost" moment several years ago. Went to a hotel where they are usually located on a higher floor and towards the end in a more private setting (not near the stairs or elevator). This time, it was on the first floor, not too far from the lobby. Hmmm. Walk in and notice that there was an adjoining door to the next room. Not cool (and usually ready for the blitz). Then she was adamant on wanting me to tell her what I wanted and wanted me to state a price (I kept on mentioning that I wanted "candy canes" as her holiday add mentioned). I then said."nahh, thanks anyway" and left. Drove around the perimeter and saw a few potential LE vehicles with a guy out there lingering and smoking.
Stay alert, mongers.
You are lucky that the cops play it straight wih you. I believe they don't have to mention the price for them to book you, either saying it is implied or they just say you did it, then it is their words vs yours. Guess who comes up on top? Don't forget they have statistics to meet, publicity to support more police officers etc. Don't forget it will get worst before election time.
