Likely just googled your number, had that happen before, use a burn, and don't send pic, sites like pimeyes will get you fucked up.
OP is completely correct!
I personally investigated. If you have a SO, you really really need to be careful about this.
The website that you need to worry about is pimeyes.com. It is a free facial recognition site. I have been very circumspect about putting my real photos on the seeking site, the only ones I provide are actually of someone not me (but similar to me) and have half the face cut off. However, in private texting, after I have spoken w / someone and am pretty sure I want to meet them, I saw no recourse but to provide a real pic. This is one that has all metadata stripped and has never appeared anywhere on the internet, on social media or anywhere else.
I just ran pimeyes on my one real photo I use for sugar. I have a relatively prominent internet presence because of my profession. That website found 7 instances of my real photos online. One of the finds was of someone else. However, if a girl wanted to search my one provided pic, she would get my *real* name and lots more information about me. This would make me extremely vulnerable to extortion, as I clearly mark on my seeking profile that I am married.
The only mitigating feature of pimeyes is that we can use it against girls.

Then I got a cashapp request for $300 and never said I had cashapp. What do I do? I know I should use a burner. I know I should wear a rubber. We all know that seeking should (hopefully) be different. Any suggestions? In another life I would solve this in a very different manner. However, I am not that person anymore.

Blackmail threat

That is why you should have a burner or at a minimum a texting / calling app like GV or TN. I use an app on *top* of my burner. However, when it happens, they will try to use your fear against you. You can turn that around by acting fearless and making them afraid instead. I once had something like this happen with a sugar baby I let get too close. When she started hinting she might expose me, I answered with the following:
"It is time for this harassment to stop. I am researching the differences between blackmail and extortion which are both federal felonies that become Aggravated when committed electronically (wire fraud.) I am not certain the line has been crossed but it certainly seems we are getting there. I am also not sure which field office of the FBI would have appropriate jurisdiction. I suppose a call to the local office could answer all three questions. Regardless and just in case, I am capturing and preserving all communications between us. You should likely do the same. Oh, and get a lawyer."
In my time on the boards several other people have gone through what you are experiencing. Whoever is threatening you is not a nice innocent schoolgirl. It is likely someone with priors and therefor a lot at risk in any encounter with the law. Threaten them right back. And remember: once you pay the Danegeld, you never get rid of the Dane.
I hope this helps.

BAM.
The topic of threats from a real SB or someone posing as one comes up periodically. I agree, the best response is to say that while stepping out on your SO isn't the nicest thing in the world, it isn't illegal, but blackmail certainly is, and the messages you have sent are definite evidence of that. If she wants to out you, you will be meeting w / LE, and as BamBam says, it is a Federal crime, which is hard time. That usually sends them scurrying to the shadows. However, they could still do some damage. I have my own separate post evaluating the potential of the risk of facial rec, which I believe is not trivial.

I can log in to google voice w / a browser, text from home w / no knowledge by the SO.

Burner and Apps
Thank you for the info! Please dm me those apps. I don't know the abbreviations. I'm buying a burner tomorrow.
No need for a DM. (It might just trigger similar requests from others and the info should be out there for all.) I second the recommendation from FFA. Tracfone sells a variety of fairly cheap smart phones. You buy one for cash from a big box store and you buy a handful of unlimited $20/ mo Tracfone cards also. You use the cards to activate the phone and load it with data, minutes and texting.
I find I never run out of minutes or data but mostly use it for texting. You then open a hobby gmail account in whatever alias you are using. (Get one you can remember; you may have to use it in Starbucks, Panera, etc.) Using the gmail account you can either download TextNow or GoogleVoice on your smartphone. These are two of the many free, unlimited use internet calling/texting apps. When the phone is on, you will get an app notification if someone is calling or texting you. You can also access the GV number from your laptop. I like that because I type much faster on a keyboard versus a phone. Now you are in business with total anonymity. As a bonus, if you ever want to signal trust to a real SB, you can give her your Tracfone number, which is different from the GV number, and tell her you are giving her your "real" number.
You should leave the phone in your office desk turned off until you are ready to use it. You can also leave it in a car trunk, a golf bag or some other place where your SO (sometimes called here, The Warden) is unlikely to find it. However, you also want protection in depth. In the unlikely event someone stumbles on the phone, you just say you found it (in the parking lot, out walking, or someplace you would not be expected to have turned it in.) You go on to say you got a charger to help power it up hoping to use that to find the original owner but, Rats! It's password protected. You probably won't need to use this but better to be prepared. I hope this help!
BAM.

Lystyler Scammer!
Speaking of possible priors, check out her main profile pic. That definitely looks like an ankle monitor bulge under her jeans.
Another odd thing: I originally viewed her using my backup account. Because its a free profile, I cannot hide when I look at someone's profile. As a consequence "she" came to my profile and asked to see my private pics. I ignored the request but it suggests they may hope to get a private picture they can trace on Pimeyes.
My face is usually obscured in all my pictures I share. After we video chat or meet in person, I may give them something real. Many years ago, I had my picture, alias and burner number posted on a blackmail site called SeekingJohns.com. It is now gone but new sites like that pop up all the time. For this reason, and now the Pimeyes vulnerability, guys should be very cautious about sharing any unmodified full facial picture.
Another oddity is that if I click on the Lystyler link posted here, I can no longer view it. However, she is still in my inbox and if I click on that link she pops up as still active. I have not seen that before.
Be safe!
BAM.
