There is a lot to stop her. Do be so foolish as to the power this guy has over her. Her world right now, is a constant stream of drugs, abuse and threat of violence and BS from this guy. He tells her he loves her one minutes and makes her get into a car with some strange guy the next. If she does not do what he wants, then I am sure he has filled her head with all kinds of scenarios as to what he will do to her or her family. Fear and keeping her doped up is his weapon of choice. 18 is just a number assigned by the government to determine when one is legally an adult. It does not account for maturity, common sense and knowledge of the streets.
While we all try at times to justify what we do and what the girls do, it is far from normal behavior. It is risky and dangerous in many ways. I know it is wrong, but I still do it. It is an addiction and a thrill. And if any guy who does thinks otherwise, then he is in denial.
These girls are not on the streets because they like what they do. If anybody thinks that for a second, then they are totally naive about what this is all about. For the girls, it is all about getting high and feeding that addiction. That is all. They are not out there to buy milk for their babies or to get money for rent or the babysitter. They are out there to get high and it is a powerful thing.
We are out there because it is a thrill to do it and it is easy to get sex, which in itself is an addiction.
I very much hate what I do. But I still do it. I realize I am part of the destructive force that ruins these girls lives. By my actions, I empower them to continue to hurt themselves.
It is a sad and vicious cycle and it is about choices. I can't save em or change their minds, but I can choose who and when I do it with. I would rather not be a part of what is happening to Ashley and allow that Asshole Taz to continue to profit from her misery in his sick and twisted ways.

I am certainly not making excuses for these girls. You are right - they can make a choice. However I would like to cast you into the life some of these girls have to live and see if you think the choices are really that simple. If all you know is getting high, beat on, raped and abused - then maybe you really don't know any other choices. How many times have you been raped? been beaten? Have you ever been molested or abused?
I think Sullivant Guy pretty much has it right. These girls don't know anything different. Their perception of what is normal is different from what we think is normal. Ashley has been fooled as to what love is due to her habit. She thinks him giving her a rock is love and anything else that comes with it is the norm.
I put the girls in two different groups. When the girl treats our meetings as strictly business, in the car, do the deed, and out of the car, I don't give it a second thought. When the girl likes to talk about her feelings and is not in a rush, those are the ones I do feel sorry for and I feel a little guilty afterwards. When they finally disappear, I just hope they moved on with there life for the better.
As far as the cops, they don't give a shit. They probably do make fun of them. They are probably just happy if they made there quota for the day.
On the womens shelter part, I've never heard any of these girls talk about being in a womens shelter. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they have to have a child or two and have to be drug free to get in a shelter? I thought I saw that on TV awhile back.
1. I do feel bad for some of these girls, expecially the youngs ones like Ashley who have been brainwashed by some scumbag named Taz. There are more of them out there like this. The pimp gets them so hooked on drugs they see the pimp as the source, and therefore he must love them because he "takes" care of the habit.
2. The cops could care less about these people or just about anyone else these days. The badge now is truly just a power trip, and ego builder. There are a few (I can't believe I am about to say this) cops out there who do care but not enough to make a difference. Most are just young power tripping kids who enjoy picking these girls up and harassing everyone else for anything. The cops are out there for a thrill an addrenalin rush, they want action and sometimes they create action on their own. I mean I was pulled over for going according to the cop 27 in a 25! I mean come one. He said I was lucky he was having a good day and let me go. That is just an example into the psyche of cops. They have become very corrupt. They are there when you don't need them to harass people, but if someone needs them they are nowhere to be found.
3. Final note to think about. Yes we mongers do feed these girls habit. And they say this is not a victimless crime because of the life these girls live with the drugs. However these girls (and others addicted to drugs) will do whatever is necessary to get thier fix. Whether it is armed robbery, assault, even murder, or just prostitution to get that one more high.

There is only a couple of them in Franklin county. They are more like a program, not a "shelter" and they are not easy to get into. The idea of a "shelter" is a myth.

A bit paranoid aren't we.... that place is a flop house and part time dope house. Chill out a bit.
