I have a 'seasoned' profile. I also got invited to be a member of their user committee, so I presume they think I am an OK guy and don't need further verification. Of course I agree with you, no one should give up their anonymity to the site if they can possibly avoid it.
I also just set up a new profile, to permit me to spy on girls I have blocked or might block me. I have thought I might pay for premium on this new profile next time around instead of my old one, I might get some different POTs. These verification requests are a GREAT reason to keep your behavior in line on the site.
