When I first got on SA a few years ago, I did not have a public photo but did have a private photo of myself. I would only reveal the private photo to POTs I felt comfortable with. I was naive and inexperienced to all the scammers on the site. I also texted a few POTs face pics and mentioned my IRL profession in conversation. I was using a burner phone and thought that was enough opsec.

Big mistake. A blackmailer started calling me on my real cell and at work. I tried blocking the number but he had some technology that could bypass the block with No Caller I'd that would come up. I tried ignoring him but he was relentless and started calling my wife too. He wanted 10 k or else he was going to "come to my neighborhood and tell everyone what I was up to. " Knew my real name and address. I said fuck you I will never give you any money and filed a police report. I was ready to accept the damage to my RL rather than pay a blackmailer. He eventually went away but it was a very stressful few weeks.

Took about a year off SA bc I didn't want to expose myself to that again. Got back on a few months ago. Now I use the pics of a guy who looks like me except maybe a bit better looking. I get the photos from FB but not of any of my friends. Even with that my profile pic cuts off half the face. My private pics are of the same guy and show the full face but I changed the color of the photos using the Painter app. I never, never, never text my actual photo to anyone. If a POT asks me to text a face pic I send her one of the same dude I use for my private pics. I also never tell any POT my real profession. I look enough like the dude in the photos that when I meet the baby it's never an issue.

Started texting, she noticed the difference in the pics I did send and when I wouldn't meet her outrageous $ expectation, she reported me.

SA suspended me, asking that I send a copy of a Govt I'd to verify the pic in my profile was me, or I could kiss access good bye.

Was able to create a new profile with different, but real pic.

I'm not on social media. At all. I don't reveal my real career, schooling or any of the nuggets I've used to verify a POT IRL so they won't turn the tables on me.

This one has some family drama going on so be forewarned that she might blow up your phone asking for help. In need of money so is open to most anything.

Not sure if this one will go through it in your situation but for me I held firm and the girl eventually stopped contacting me. I told her if she went through with her threats I would report it to local law enforcement and the FBI. Sent her a link to an article where a lady was prosecuted for trying to blackmail someone in a similar situation. All in all though it was probably the most stressful two weeks of my life. I guess the lesson I learned was either stop taking these risks or make sure not to leave your phone or anything else that could identify you lying around. Put everything in the hotel safe and lock it up.

That is, assuming that you are 100% sure that she is of legal age (you checked this out, right? She has tattoos, so you have to be 18 to get those, right?) or you saw her drivers license?

Anyway. The standard response when someone threatening to expose you to family, friends, spouse should be that, while what I did might not have been the nicest thing I've ever done, and could be embarrassing, it isn't illegal. However, blackmail is a Federal felony, and I happen to have all of the documentary evidence a prosecutor could ever want in your texts to convict you of that. So, if you would like to pursue this action, I won't just lay back and take it, I will be heading to the Department of Justice.

While we might think of this as usually a guy exposing his ex, I am sure the way the laws are written, the perp can be the woman, not the guy (and same-sex relationships of course). Check into that, and use the laws against revenge porn in your push back against her.

If you get threatend with blackmail, call that shit. It's a felony, she said she is 17 and going to send it, and filmed it with out you knowing? That's the production and distribution of underage material, another two felonies. I'd roll those dice at court.

[/QUOTE]Respectfully, could you provide a little more clarity on this? I'm always very interested in how the scams and robberies these "girls" do play out -- knowing how these things work is the first step to us all being able to prevent it from happening to us on these dates.

I get how the girl could steal your college ring while you weren't looking, that one's easy. But she took video of you having sex? I mean, to do that she would have had to carefully prop her phone up and aim the lens at the bed, and roll the camera. Or she went into this with some kind of "spy-cam" hardware actually pre-installed in her purse of something. You said "after she left" so that implies she was in your space / hotel room, so she couldn't have pre-set her camera to record -- she would have had to have done this on the fly after she came to your room. If the hidden-cam/spy-cam route, that is some serious pre-planning plus an actual initial investment in hardware. If true, seems like she is likely not working alone in this scam -- Not out of the realm of possibility, but I have a hard time imagining an 18 year-old-looking girl pulling this kind of investment / pre-planning / operation off completely by herself. I mean, 18 year old girls generally have much simpler and reliable ways of extracting money from men using their 18 year old wiles....

And also -- how the hell did she get the contacts on your phone? Is this girl some Lebanese NSA-grade hacker? Did she show proof of having those contacts? I'm guessing that is a bluff, but damn, if true I'd really like to know how the hell that happened.
