Either have 2 tabs up (or 2 separate windows it doesn't really matter) and just drag and drop the image you want to search onto the google images search bar. There is no need to save or download anything anymore.

I use Firefox not sure if it matters and had google image open in 1 tab to the spot it says drag photo. In separate with BP opened I left clicked on a pick to grab it, dragged to the tab for google and put curser in box and let go.

I usually have 2 separate windows open not full screen but so they are side by side so I can see both pages at the same time. Then just like Craps7 said just left click and hold on the image and move your cursor over to the Google Images search bar and it will expand for the picture. Then just drop it there and search.
