The method I use, is to check if the ad / post lists a specific town where they're located and if the phone number is in-state, like 203, or 860 as examples. And lastly if the add posts a name. If all three of those items are in the post, it's likely real. All the others, especially ones using the terms "Divorced", and such are mostly phony or scams.

Just my 2 cents.
