Cherry "The Fun City Legend" is still in Philly at Sun Spa 1217 Race St. I'm sharing this info since Fun City has been closed for more than two weeks and who knows if they will reopen.

You looking for the perfect experience. You'll never find it. The point is that, while in any circumstance YMMV, the chances of a bad time are greatly reduced by picking one of those two. Now if one goes in and misbehaves (offers money for sex), acts like a jerk or is demanding, then yeah, they might have a bad time at the best places.
But what one really should do is go to a couple of the OTHER houses and date the 40 & 50 yo babes, get a girl that at best rates a 6, get rushed, get a cold shower, get bad attitudes, get a dirty place. THEN one will have the experience to better judge why those two get the kind of press they do here.
But then again, most posting on these boards don't know what the F they are talking about. The other half are paid shills, and those out of towners who say we don't know how lucky we are to have the quality of AMPs we have. Well those dudes were just drunk conventioneers who haven't had sexy in 3 years any kinda p*ssy would have been a 10 for them.

First, the short answer: target BA and you need not worry about anything else.
Longer answer: BA is best by far. I mean, FC is (was?) second best, and it was somewhat a remote second. FC appears to be closed at the moment. Smile spa (aka "basement" has nothing to do with FC other than being next door; FC did not become Smile, Smile has always been there, years and decades before there was any FC. They do not have the same consistency by any means. The basement is on par with the rest of places in Philly; if you plan to go there, you can as well go anywhere else. Is it bad? Nope. Is it good? It's hit and miss, like the rest of 'them. I've had very good times there, and rather mediocre (charitably) times too.
My suggestion: head to BA. If for some (unfathomable) reason you can't, check FC. If they're still closed, go anywhere, just check the place here and on other boards with Philly AMP info (like BP, for example). There's a bunch of places on Race, there's one on Spring (that I know of), there's the 18 xx family, 1918, a couple of joints on Walnut, etc. Avoid 202 Quince though.
