Above is a link to T-Mobile pay as you go plans. Note: You can get 90 days for as little as $10. I, however, popped for the $100 annual prepayment. That cuts the monthly down to about $8, gives you bonus minutes, and you don't have to keep track of when to refill the thing. For a long time. T-Mobile is known as the poor coverage plan, nationwide: but who cares for a burn phone?

You can also get a phone real cheap at Walgreens, CVS, etc.

AT&T pay as you go and several other provider. You don't even need to get a number just get wi-fi connectivity and call from your google number and it is free and you can change the google number as many time as you want.

So you can use one number for contacting a provider, and she can reach you on it, and then you can instantly get rid of it and never use it again. I think it lasts for only up to 7 or 10 days anyway. You make calls from the app, so no need to worry about leaving numbers in your call history, or about a burner phone being found, and you can obviously delete the app with just a touch. I don't use an iPhone, but some of you probably do, so it might be worth checking out. Just google it it's the first result.

There's a FB page about cleaning up Rocky Mount and fighting crime. The week before last it had a post about the ladies on BP that serve in Rocky Mount. The control panel and contact listing for GV has a lot of options. There are also Android, Blackberry, and iOS apps for integration with your phone.

As Spooner mentioned you can turn off forwarding... If you decide to leave the app on full time and you are having an issue with a chatty provider then you can mark individual numbers to not ring through or go straight to voice mail.

And the price is right.

I have had a 570 (New Orleans) and a 410 (Baltimore) number when I lived in each of those locales.

Mine is 919, they usually have at least a few numbers available from all area codes that still have numbers available (don't expect a 212).

Taking calls they wouldn't know it was a GV number. If they call a GV number I'm not sure how they would know either. Called ID is passed and captured as expected for GV.

The big drawback to GV is that it does not do multimedia messaging (pics, videos), just regular text.

So far the only odd numbers I have dealt with that are a dead giveaway are Skype calls, they always seem to come up as 865-6696 which spells out UNKNOWN on the keypad.
